Well we could beat that, so of course others could. Its if they WILL. I dont think anyone will offer to much for him.

Agreed. The word around the league is it will not take much more than a phelps and Gomez type player to get Beltran. The mets are set on trading him and may have to settle on a deal like that.

If this is true, there's no reason not to make this trade. It would be a no-brainer.

Sounds like with the injury to Carlos Gomez, the Brewers might be the favorites to acquire Beltran...

I don't see the Tribe as a player for Beltran. Shapiro/Antonetti, for some odd reason, covet our "prospects" like gold even though most turn into shit. I wouldn't be setting my sights (not saying you are) on Beltran when we'll most likely end up with a Willingham or Ludwick, who they'd only likely have to part with an A prospect or a PTBNL.

Would love to see your source here. I follow the Mets very closely, and word is that Beltran is likely going to Philly for stud prospect Dominic Brown, and that Mets GM Sandy Alderson wants a prospect of that caliber, otherwise he will hold on to Beltran for the stretch run. Not saying you are wrong, just had not heard that.

It was mainly coming from buster olney. He was saying that philli is taking it cautiously and doesn't want to give up there best prospect when they have a comfortable division lead. It is definitely going to be an interesting trade deadline.

Doesn't Beltran have a no-trade clause though? He probably would veto a trade to a team he didn't want to play for anyway.

With the injury to Grady Sizemore the Cleveland Indians are looking to cover their bases in the outfield and may be close to acquiring Ryan Ludwick from the San Diego Padres, according to several sources. Jim Bowden of ESPN reported Wednesday that the TRibe was "working hard" to acquire Ludwick or Oakland's Josh Willingham.

SI.com's Jon Heyman tweets Thursday that the Indians have also expressed interest in Coco Crisp.

The Indians can continue to use Michael Brantley in center so they can focus on adding a hitter that can man a corner, which may mean Ludwick or Willingham become much more likely than Crisp, or even Houston's Michael Bourn.

I would take Bourn in a second also. He has tremendous speed and can bat leadoff and put Brantley 2nd with drubs 3rd

Bourn is a nice player, but not the kind of player they need, IMO. They need someone with some pop that can drive in runs, preferably a RH hitter.

Well, they are bringing Kipnis up now, who was drafted as an OF. So does that mean they aren't making a move?

I doubt it. They have said all along that they want Kipnis to be an everyday 2B.

Sounds like they are trying to make deals but it wouldn't surprise me if they took a "wait & see" approach to this homestand. If they are 4-5 games back when the home stretch is over they can give us the old "we did our best to make a trade" bullshit and then sit on their hands as the season wastes away.

The sad thing is I believe it is true. If they wanted a bat they could have easily traded for Ludwick or willingham by now.

If they sit back and the team implodes, they can say "this team was playing a year ahead of schedule....the expectations were for 2012-2013" or some crap like that. Problem is, with how much Dolan has screwed over this fan base with his penny pinching, it may be the last straw for many fans (after Sabathia, Lee, V-Mart trades) and he will lose the majority of his fans.

"Small market" BS, or not, you can't covet ALL of your "prospects" like they are gold because that's ALL they are...PROSPECTS. The "we're playing for next year" crap doesn't fly because "next year" never came in 2006 & 2008.

Agreed that's why I said we do what we have to to get Beltran without giving up Pomeranz and white. And if they could pick up kuroda I don't understand how people could say that they couldn't contend for the world series. We saw what this team can do when they get hot. And if you get to the playoffs anything can happen.
