Thats not my point how good they are , the point is that is the only reason they went after them. The Norwayne girl happened to be the leagues leading scorer when they wrongly suspended and then corrected her situation. . You should not be singled out when a lazy or non dedicated athlete and their family can do anything they please and no one says a word. All men are created equal don't punish the hardest working.

The Norwayne girl was not wrongly suspended nor was she suspended because the OHSAA looked at her differently because she was the leagues leading scorer. She was ruled intelligible due to her not meeting the residency requirement for a transfer student. PERIOD.

The OHSAA followed the rules that governed such matters at the time of the ruling. They later over ruled the inelligbilty, but there was nothing unfair about her initial suspension (at least on the part of the OHSAA).

As a wrestling family in the Wayne County community you have our support also Dean. This is an emotionally charged moment for a lot of us. I am glad that the real underlying issues have surfaced. You have covered a lot of ground with words which substantiates much of what you say, here and other forums. Defending yourself against continual pot shots isn't benefiting anyone. At this point I'd like to know more on why the "Health and Well Being" clause was dropped from the OHSAA transfer rules??? I can only presume that there was abuse. Shouldn't there be some kind of flexibility here? I am aghast at what this American family is being forced through to just pursue their version of "life, liberty, and pursuit of...". Wrestling is important to them as a family. I don't feel they should be penalized because of a lack of flexibility by OHSAA rules.

You would think any school affiliated governing body would have the health and welfare of student/athletes, and most importantly children as the top item on the list, and if there was substantiated abuse or harm from the Tuslaw district, than the coach should be immediately terminated, and all certifications revoked at the state level, and if found that the administration had knowledge of this and did nothing about it, than Tuslaw should forfeit all extra curricular activities, and be under investigation. This would just make common sense if the potential endangerment of children was involved.

The events that occurred leading up to the "Move", dating to last wrestling season, when a light is shed, will make you wonder exactly how certain people are in fact STILL employed at their respective Schools. (I use the term respective loosely) The fact of the matter is, it's downright pathetic. The self diminshed choices and decisions that were made by the violating parties, stated in BOLD print, that the previous schools "leaders"(per se) did not give a damn about the student/athletes successes or well being. The choices they made, in fact was no way possible supporting for there State level and ALL-OHIO athletes, but also jeopardized the SAFETY of STUDENT/ATHLETES while under the direct supervision on said Adult "Partys".

(when referencing violating partys, im certainly not referring to The Nelson boys...all they did was Qualify, Place at State....with ummm, there Dad coaching them, Im not at liberty to suggest why the HEAD Coach wasn't in the chair coaching these athletes)

Starts in 8th grade. I'am called into school by Jr. high coach for " a discipline problem on the twins" I am told they refuse to go 70 percent. They have unfair advantage over the other kids. other kids don't have access to same training. I tell coach he has no right to ask them to go any thing less than 110 percent. They said our room our rules. The twins were then banned from having any contact with any other Tuslaw kid at practice. I was then told that they did not have time to coach the twins if they could not wrestle with the team . Wow .No partners , no coaches. I was told that I could coach them in the corner the rest of the season if I wanted to. I did. Zack and Zane every day alone in corner working their tail off, 3 weight class apart. Safety and welfare issue number one. You get hurt when you don't go hard. Welfare being punished for hustling, stripped of being a teammate. team pulls off huge upset in 1st tournament . We finish ahead of both Perry and Wadsworth by a point at Northwest invitational , we have two champions...good. next week

Only home meet of the season. My wife and I show up . Family and grand parents all show up. Coach says to me ..we have to talk(OH boy). We are benching Zane in the tri he is to good for a dual. He is what we call a tournament wrestler. He gets lots of attention and is over qualified for a dual meet we want (Insert mat backers kids name) to wrestle tonight . I admit I had enough. Big scene. Things had come to a head (a welfare of athlete issue). After much misery they concede yes Daddy got his way.
Last straw that night. Zack now. The Fairless kid Zack has is suddenly sick. Fairless coach(19 year old Tuslaw grad) and very close friends with angry Tuslaw coach who tried to bench Zane have a long matside meeting. Zack is ordered to put on his warm up he is done. Kid suddenly sick. No match. Fairless's best kid one weight uo from Zack warming uo and staring Zack down. Zack gets up ask coach are you bumping me? No sit down .Zack gets to his match no warm up goes out has hand raised takes forfeit. walks off puts warm ups back on. The Tuslaw and Fairless coaches huddle and say lets do it . Our 10-1 125 pounder is pulled Zack is yelled at to go back out on the mat bump up where the other kid had already been told about the plan and was ready, and forced to wrestle illegally in a dual after excepting his forfeit, just to try and get even over Zane getting to wrestle. Zack loses his only match of year by 1 point in last second and even some Tuslaw fans cheer. Tuslaw wins dual but then has to forfeit match for illegally wrestling one kid in two matches. Our healthy 125 ,10-1 wrestler gets no match .
We wrestled CVCA that night too. They were appalled . The boys turned in their stuff . We finished year on a club schedule. it was great. CVCA became a great place to train for a year.
Last episode, that night. Head Jr. High coach turns to the crowd and says" congratulations the Biggest A$$ Hole family in Tuslaw history is Gone" and a few cheered others Knew it was a classless move.
My sons wept that night and did not understand why hard work offends so many .
Team Nelson Was born that night. My wife told the boys in life you will always be a team and we will always be your fans. She designed a T-shirt that night with a Super man symbol with stick figures holding hands raised with Team Nelson. It put the biggest smile on their face and team nelson shirts have spread all over since .
We are all enrolled at CVCA next. Great organization. Still great friends top to bottom. The whole team wore the Team Nelson shirts, all the conference HS champs wore them on the top of the podium for pics and ceremonies to stand up for the twins including even Sr Beau Wenger from Fairless the twins had a great day 8th graders being supported by 4 different schools. emotional . Top wrestling families knwo and understand the hate that goes on in wrestling. Not a good night for Tuslaw at that conference meet seeing the unity of the league for two 8th graders. Now you understand the very deep animosity by those inner tuslaw coaches. Poor Heavy weight and Sr Josh Morosko Tuslaw's ,State heavy weight runner up. He goes out against all warnings in a Team Nelson Shirt. The sr. captain of Tuslaw defying the hate! Poor kid. One fan grabbed him by the arm and called him a disgrace to the community!! He was threatened by the Tuslaw staff for each minute he wore the shirt he would run sprints! He refused. I went to him and told him to take it off and my family is forever grateful to Josh for his support for two 8th graders now at CVCA. he took a beating for that . 7 of the conference champs that night wore Team Nelson Shirts to show support and stand up to what Tuslaw had done to them. It was a special night. No one had ask them to, We have never sold a shirt for money but they are gone as fast as we get them. next chapter back at Tuslaw , who would have guessed after all this! LOl! next post.

An outsiders observation-
There seems to be alot of termoil whenever you show up and start coaching.

How about completely staying away from the practice room and just spend next season sitting in the bleachers with the other dopey dads...as just your kids DAD?
Hell--- eat a few hot dogs, root for the uncoordinated gawky kid to get his first pin, look at a few wrestling moms, eat a few more hotdogs, and be always be humble and pretend that you barely noticed that your kid won his last match

I disagree with that wolverine. He shouldn't have to sit and be idle as long as he isn't being obnoxious or obtrusive to the other parents and team members.

If what he's said is true (and I don't know him so I'm going to assume it is rather than assume he's a liar) then the Tuslaw coaching staff should be embarrassed and frankly shouldn't be allowed to coach anymore.

Simply amazing! The man needs to seek help. The head coach at Tuslaw is a good man and a good coach, but with Mr. Nelson in the room, no coach is worth a darn.

DeanGate. This is getting to almost as involved as Watergate. Will a misterious Deep Throat come out with secret details leaked to the paper to break the case wide open.

Back at Tuslaw! We are going to CVCA! 100 mile round trip a day! OCH!!!!! The Tuslaw Superintendent had heard about what had happened. he was not happy! He called and said would you and your wife come in and see me. He wanted to know why his next door neighbor to the school would pull their kids from school. I had supported all Tax levies . Was the number one tax payer . 18000 a year in real estate taxes on my then home and now Corporate office. My wife, oldest son Cory and I showed up. The Head coach was there, Both Jr High coaches were there. Every single thing mentioned in my previous post was covered . Everything was verified and admitted. Niether coach was back as Jr. high coaches the Next year. The only scene was when my oldest son Coryback from ASU stood up and leaned over the Table emotional with tears and warned the two Jr, High coaches they will never mess with his little brothers again just because you hate my Dad. it brought a tear to my eye to see the love he had for the twins. Wow some Justice and something terrible fixed because of a good school administration.....? I was asked that if I was made a coach and could keep a Close eye on the Boys would I reconsider staying at Tuslaw. The head coach with both hands on his face elbows on table was not a good sign or start but after a few days of thought and prayer I thought maybe we can make this work. No Tuition, no dangerous drive thru down town Akron everyday. 2 extra hours a day for school work and training. lets do it. The toughest part was we loved everything about CVCA, the team ,The wrestlers, the Insane fellow Dads! Heart breaking but better for the family overall. Coach Lawrence at CVCA is a great man. I called him , Dreading the news to give. He was unbelievably supportive and totally understood and has remained a great family friend and supporter of Team Nelson Camps! I just went to Field last week to hang with and support CVCA in their Tri meet and had a great time with the CVCA families and Dads. next chapter.

This is crap. The only persons getting hurt here are the two boys who work there butts off. If you don't like Dean so be it he is a man that can handle the crap. But for saying all this crap on public forum where these two young men can read it. Come on people think of the kids. I personally would like to see these young men be aloud to wrestle. Like moving to waynedale was going to a state power. The shame of the matter is if they went to eds walsh cvca st.pairs or anyother state power nothing would be said. Just look where kids are from on those teams. And I know for a fact thenelsons have residence in apple creek. Just remember its about the kids

Let's assume you're right and that Mr. Nelson is high maintenance and a nuisance. You haven't said anything that shows that the Nelson boys broke the rules and are still living at their old residence. All you've done is attack Mr. Nelson.

I don't know him or his kids but even if he is a terribly unbearable person it doesn't matter one bit if his kids didn't break the rules. If they didn't break the rules they should be allowed to wrestle no matter if their dad is the pope or as terrible a nuisance as you'd have us believe.

First day of practice for freshman twins at Tuslaw. Tense slightly uncomfortable but optimistic. I get my gear on and head to room. I find Zane in tears. believe me that is unusual. What happened. Zane says dad we should have never stayed. What Happened. The 170 pound body builder Senior captain Jacked my son Zane against the wall and threatened him that if he ever wore a Team Nelson t shirt to practice again he would have his skull crushed in with the cement block holding open the door. That our family tried to destroy Tuslaw wrestling and life would be miserable. deep sickness..... I went straight to the coach with the story. The head coach laughed and said thats just him(NAME). Don't start trouble on your first day here coach Nelson. Unbelievable. Refused to address the team about the anti team nelson Issues . I learned later he even posted the hatred himself on the Team Bulletin board the year before. he said You talk to the (bully) yourself. I took the senior bully but I decided to do it in the coaches office in front of head coach. I asked the kid whats my Name? Coach Nelson he said. Whats Zanes Name . Nelson he said. Don't you ever threaten my sons life for wearing a shirt with his name on it. Yes sir he said. I said to head coach do you have anything to say? Nothing . . Kid leaves . Coach says he did not want me talking to kid again and refused to report the incident to school. It was tough year. The superintendent called me a good soldier for never snapping back the whole year. There was to much a stake , the twins were open season if I was not in there. Not one single incident or out break with me and the head coach the whole season and I think that disappointed him. Well other than safety issues and deep resentment by some we just kept trucking along on the mat. The twins had a great freshman year , Zack broke the all time take down record of 211 in a season . Zane feel short of all time pin record of 30 with 28 pins. they both made it to the finals at district. Zane pinned his way to finales Zack took people down to the finals ,Thunder and Lightning. Zane lost in ot and Zack won his match . First ever Freshman state qualifiers in Tuslaw history!!!! Huge problem. They were the only two that made it.The one main assistant coach (rehired one of the JR high back) took his son(starting 135) and left and refused to watch the twins finals. Things get lonely and rough. The frustration of the inner Mat backers was blatant . For the first time ever no state t shirts till Mom threw a fit and then their name was spelled wrong.LOL. no decorations on the Van like in times past until Mom and friends arrived at last second and did it herself with some help. last chapter your not going to believe it but every thing is documented. Hold on. THE STATE TOURNAMENT!

The State tournament. Lights camera action. All those long practices. thankless weight cutting. Skin infections. cauliflower ear, traveling all summer. Fargo. Disney duals, preseason nationals, regionals. Drama! LOL! Its the second day .They both are coming up. The Head coach can't find anyone from the team. ? They skipped school for this? They had tickets ? They are at the same hotel? Where? Where are all the Tuslaw fans. The team? Only my wife and sister and head coaches mom. Where? My sister in law in a panic her son The starting 112 and cousin missing he is going to miss his cousins match!? The head paid assistant coach missing? We finally get a hold of the head assistant. He says he was sorry but he slept in. Where are the kids we ask. Big problem he repies. There are no sober coaches or mat backers to drive the vehicle for the kids to get there???? WHAT? They are all wasted. Head coach you find a way to get them here now .the twins are up in 30 minutes or less. Now I'am trying to not let this bother my sons at such an important moment but you could see the hurt. No fans, teammates or backers. Just mom and aunt Jael. We go thru the tunnel . Funny but the first thing we see is a Sea of Gold !!The Waynedale Faithfull!! Where is the blue ...No where to be seen .Our Section Empty! Wait there is Momagain and aunt Jael. No one from the team. We get a Mat by louie Stanley coaching Justin Petershime (what a scrapper) I tell Louie the news and Point to my wife. He could not believe what he saw and heard. Justin and Zane win their match Louie High fives Zane. The sea of Gold screams with pride when Justin wins! Zane hears his mom, again always there for her boys. Potential disaster for my poor nephew back at the Hotel!! The sleepy assistant gathers the drunks they gather by the van. Who can drive. The drunken father and one of the head Matbackers and nightmare for our family still, demands that his 15 year old unlicensed starting 145 pounder can drive. No says the assistant coach.are you nuts . No just drunk. The drunk adults pile in . Several Wrestlers pile in including my nephew. The adults continue to drink open container. no seat belts. The 15 year old begins his drive thru the big city highways escorting the drunks and team to the colosseum.They still totally miss the matches by a half hour. Thank God no one was killed. Final straw next.

Whats unbelievable is the people taking pot shots and jabs at this man and his family. I KNOW FOR A FACT...He has been nothing but a gentleman in Waynedales wrestling room and at all competition!!! His passion is for his FAMILY!!!! Folks are out of line attacking this FAMILY, And especially the kids!!! Keep in mind...all things being posted have been documented!!! Certain people posting were non existant UNTIL this subject was thrown on us. Now here you are to take pot shots....such soldiers. LOL

Waynedale is a perfect fit for The Nelsons, because we have SUCCESS on our minds and HARD WORK in the wresstling room. Im not trying to discredit ANY other program, but the dislike for The Bears AND The Nelsons....is simply due to Success. Waynedale may not be State Champs...but we consistantly put a competitive D-III TEAM on the mat. Go away from Wayne County and The Bears are respected and liked, as are The Nelsons. It seems to be the local kool-aid drinkers that have a problem.

I truly feel sorry for the sick souls that opened this can of worms.

I hold my self to every thing I have said and will swear by it in a court of law. Sue me for slander if I have said anything that is not true. This site has nothing to do with this story and is in no way is encouraging it! No names will be mentioned until such time it is a record in the court. No names have been mentioned, No insults . Just the story. The truth will hopefully set you free. That packet gave to the OHSAA destroyed two kids that were already in danger and now the Victims are banished and the unprofessional child endangerment that the school was suppose to protect did nothing.
