I've read through this entire thing. As a player, fan, and coach, I have seen dozens+ times when an official put his hand up but an official with a better vantage point do something completely different, thus trumping the other one. It looks like that is what happened here.

I understand what you're saying. I just think that the other official came in and argued that he had a better vantage point so they went with his decision.

I've said before, that I would agree that it was a slow whistle. A slow whistle =/= bad call.

Can you then direct me to the NCAA rulebook where it states a runner is permitted 2 yards of reverse direction before an official signaling a dead ball due to forward progress? Or even, at a bare minimum, use the NCAA rulebook to defend the call? I think that would be the best way to discuss the call, rather than you going off your vast "football knowledge."

You asked my opinion, and I gave it to you. Everyone would agree that your examples would not result in a safety.

I think the biggest thing with this is that he broke that tackle after being in the endzone. With the way the play happened and Boom shedding the blocker, we get to this point.

I paused the above video at the 2:39 mark. The official on the other side of the field runs in and puts his hand up after Boom is already tackled in the endzone.

Why didn't he put his hand up when he first made the spot with his foot at the point of contact? Was he himself unsure about his ruling?

2.8.2. Forward progress is a term indicating the end of advancement by the ball carrier or airborne pass receiver of either team and applies to the position of the ball when it became dead by rule.

Two key parts of that sentence. "end of advancement" & "dead by rule".

I'm curious if that is a reviewable play? If so, the replay booth messed up more than the officials, as they could look at it dozens of times from different angles.

He doesn't actually get wrapped up, but he does get forced back by the defender actually doing it.

LOL at saying those are two similar plays. NOT EVEN CLOSE!
