1a. Golden Retriever - we just got our first as a family, I had 1 when I was a kid and he was the man. I never experienced him as a puppy so a lot of this stuff we're going through now is new. I love how eager this puppy is to work, he always wants to fetch, retrieve, please in general. He's been awesome to train as far as basic housetraining/manners and we've started working on water retrieves and small tasks to see if he's going to be interested in field work or just be a companion for after the bird hunts.
1b. Dachshund - owned 4, loved them all more than i can even say. All of them were stubborn pricks to train and fierce barkers/diggers/food thief's. finicky when it comes to cold and wet weather but man do they love affection.
3. Labs - work with a bunch in the hunts that i've been getting into and i love their temperament and work ethic
4. Red Lacy - again i've never seen a better hunting/tracking animal but by all accounts of the guys i've worked with/talked to that had them they are AWFUL pets. If you don't have a hunting or tracking business that can keep this breed busy or the time to train them properly they are terrors.
5. Bulldogs - always wanted one, wife's family used to raise them and they were always so fun, but watching them decline with age past like 5 was always depressing.
