I also have never thought someone looks weird in a baseball hat. Even if they look weird, I assume they wear it for shade -- which is the only real time I wear one.

posted by MontyBrunswickHonestly I went a solid 10-15 years where I had no desire to wear a hat and didn't understand why people did. Lately I've had a change of heart and been mulling getting a hat.
Then yesterday I pressure washed my deck and got a sunburn on my head. Closer than ever to getting a hat now.
I look forward to following the hat saga of MontyBrunswick. Can we please have a spinoff thread?

Egocentric daily social media posting. I know people who update their "friends" and the world on every mundane detail of their life. People actually think that other people are out there waiting for what they have to say next, when in reality the likelihood of people hoping they DON'T see your post today is higher.

This just makes me wonder why people are on Social Media to begin with. I got sucked into Twitter for a class assignment in 2009 and I havent been able to quit. But I deleted FB about 10 years ago and I have never signed up for TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. Feels like I am one of the few who have dodged all the bullets of misery that come along with it.

I'd add Linkedin to your list. I know you've kind of "got to" have it in this day-in-age, but I find it miserable. I try to stay off of it, but one in awhile I start scrolling. What a horrible and fake place it is.

I have it, but havent opened it in about 5 years. I do not network thru there (of course, I have been at current job for 10 years). But when/if I ended up leaving, I would just reach out to people.

Not sure if it's actually an unpopular one, but I do get annoyed by just how prolific random-ass remakes/reboots of established movies or TV shows have gotten. Almost to the point where it can feel at times that it's easier to get one of those approved than it would be to get an original idea through.
For example, the original Halloween was great. We didn't need two directors inferior in every way to John Carpenter to try their hand at re-doing it, with all sorts of extra exposition as to why Michael Myers acted like he did.

Let me add that Rob Zombie should've never touched the Halloween franchise. Those movies were BRUTAL.
Not sure if considered "pop culture" or more of an "old man get off my lawn" take but the fact that most under 25 can't hold an intelligent conversation unless it involves their phone.

Seems to be popular (car) culture now that EVERY car needs to have dark or black rims. I'm sorry, but they don't work on every car, ESPECIALLY your mini-van! WTH!?
I had a grayish-blue Ford Maverick and I put black rims on it. I thought it made it look stupid, personally. I have a dark gray Ford Ranger now, and my dark rims (on the truck when I bought it) look much better.
I also saw a mini-van with low profile wheels yesterday. Why is it important for a mini-van to look "sporty?"

Any place you go to for sandwiches, restaurants/fast food - always feel the need to put dill pickles on them.
Pickles aren't necessary and dill pickles don't go with every type of sandwich.
I wish this pickle prevalency would stop!

Pickles are one of the easiest ways to add acidity to a sandwich. There is an actual culinary reason they are used so much.

I prefer them on the side. Nothing against them, but I don't like how their flavor meshes with the actual sandwich.

I am aware. Maybe if places got edgy and tried a variant. Spicy pickles are awesome. Maybe bread and butter. But it's always dill.

This fucking line: “Is there a good name for that order?”
What is wrong with “May I get your name?” Or, hell, even “your name?”
ME: I’ll have two tacos and a burrito.
CASHIER: Is there a good name for that order?
ME: Yeah. How about “Two Tacos and a Burrito”.

I love dill pickles.
But sweet pickles……NO!
