No. Because 90% of the country seems to finally be on board and understands the severity of the situation. If they did this a week ago, my answer may be different, since half the population was still in denial.
Fauci was on, or maybe it was yesterday, and did say he favored as much as they could do....and that it [quarantine] was discussed. The common refrain emerging is "we'd rather end-up guilty of a gross over reaction".
And I'm sure many other options have been considered. I've seen ideas floated about retirees self-quarantining for several months since they are by far the most at risk. But the problem remains estimates are as many as 15% will need hospitalization, and that would overwhelm the hospitals. Even 5% would overwhelm the hospitals.
