At the beginning of the year I made a goal to be in the 1,000lb club. I realize that for most decent lifters it’s not that big of an accomplishment. In January I was around 830ish and I’m up to 965 now. My deadlift sucks.

But I really like benching. In a couple weeks I’m going to attempt 300. I did 285x2 earlier this month. A year ago I was happy doing 235.

I really don't know what my squat and deadlift maxes are, but I am over 1,000 with my normal sets.

Bench - Max 365

Squat -  Normal set 505 (3 sets of 10)

Deadlift - Normal set 355 (3 sets of 10)

Well…things have been about as good as they can get and I couldn’t be more appreciative.

For myself…I’m down 49 lbs and I believe my heart is its healthiest in nearly 30 years. I’ve worked my ass off and I think I’ve stubbornly created a diet of a normal person and one I can sustain forever and not go back to where I’ve been since my early 20’s.

Coaching…yesterday my star runner won the division 3 state championship in the 1600 and then 90 minutes later in the 3200.  He won both races in thrilling fashion in the final 100 meters in front of a packed Jesse Owens Stadium…I’ve coached a long long time in many sports and at many levels, it’s never going to top that.

But what has me at my softest heart…last Thursday I brought home a senior to be young girl to stay a few weeks with me and my wife….We aren’t letting her go back. We are pushing the foster care people to get this done. I had her in class from K-6 and coached her in XC in grades 7-9. As a toddler her own parents put her up for adoption and she was placed in a foster home….a foster home that had about 20 different kids in and out but a very bad situation and I won’t go any further. This past September she finally got out of there and back to some of her blood family and things were just bad in many ways. This girl has had to deal with everything and hardly ever given anything. My wife and I have never been happier than these last 10 days in caring and taking care of her. She can’t stop smiling and skips around humming and singing. This feels like the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. Keep my wife and I in your thoughts that this all gets finalized ASAP and she never has to go back.

I am ahead of schedule on my goal of bench pressing 405 by the end of the year. I had 2 reps of 365 the other day. Not bad for 46.

Today was the day. I benched 405.

Congrats. That a huge milestone.  That took a ton of work and consistency. I never achieved a bench like that, but I have an appreciation for what it took to get there.

Currently in a waiting pattern to see what's going to happen with my grandma's farm and if I can afford to buy it. It's on the schedule to be surveyed soon, and after that it will get an appraisal. Hoping the appraisal comes back in my favor.

I just booked a trip to Mexico City.

Today I get a couch delivered, Saturday an OLED TV. Feeling like a real adult.

The pga is trying to grow golf in the inner city so I am starting a golf team and all of the kids who participate in required clinics and finish the Season get a full set of clubs and bag. Pretty exciting even tho we are only starting with 4 kids.

I almost got blown up on site yesterday.

Contractor didn’t properly clean an oxygen pipeline going to an aluminum melter.

I was there to start up the combustion system that we designed to melt the aluminum.

We hit the start button and there was still an absolute shit ton of isopropyl alcohol in the oxygen line and when that met pure oxygen a major explosion happened inside the pipe and the pressure wave blew a gasket just a few short feet from my head which luckily only shot out pure oxygen mixed with left over unburnt alcohol instead of an extremely hot alcohol fire.

I hit the estop, closed the oxygen supply valve and told everyone to get out as the fire might not be out (still in the pipe).

The 300+ feet of all 2” stainless steel pipe from the oxygen source to the burner controls was extremely hot to the touch (>140F as that is what a human hand can touch).

Today was survey the damage day, see what parts are damaged, the contractor was bitched out by the owner, they are there trying to fix their shit. I am on a plane on my way home.

So that was my Thursday. Came close to dying in an industrial accident.

JFC. Glad you’re safe. That is very fucked up. Someone ought to find their ass in a sling for that kind of sloppiness.

The golf is at old hickory and old fort.

The golden tee is at TNT bar and grill

Agreed. I was surprised I didn’t pop off the mouth at the contractor the next day.

Hopefully this doesn’t cause you problems with your insurance. My wife does commercial insurance and construction insurance and these are the type of stories I hear her talk about a lot that gets people dropped from insurance or higher rates. Also despite our differences I’m glad you are ok !

It would be the contractor or the end user. Not my company.
