I like what I do but at times it can be difficult with all of the rapid changes corporate is pushing with the acquisition of Rite Aid in chunks. Essentially we will be take the whole company over and rival CVS, but they’re attempting to get the entire distribution chain on the same exact page down to the operating procedures which is hard enough with other shifts, let alone completely different buildings in different regions.
I’m fortunate to be making the living I do in my mid 20s in this area, and Walgreens is a great company to work for. Insurance is okay, but 3 hours of paid vacation a week, tons of giveaways and a very team oriented environment all based on the fact we are hell bent on adhering to Lean Six Sigma 100% of the way. The downfall is with lean and the new version of ISO 9001 you are constantly doing projects and audits on how to improve processes, coming up with metrics that add to the ones already in place to measure improvement, is incredibly time consuming.
I cant complain however, most of my buddies and classmates at BG that have moved into the supply chain field seem to be in places where everyone is just yelling at each other all day to move their asses. I’d probably be canned or suspended for yelling at one of my employees
