Just saw a Reddit thread about a woman's husband passing away unexpectedly in his 30s....asking how to get his Oura ring to sync.  Am I a bad person because I can't read that post without laughing?!?

No, I did not break the flow of "sorry for your loss" with "WTF?!?!?!  Da fuck?!?!?".  But that's gotta be a bot, right?  I assume there are mind-blowingly stupid people in the world, but c'mon

For context, here's the post.  There's no way this was written by a human, right?

Hello, my husband passed away last week and was wearing his ring. I won't go into details but it was very much a shock, as we are both not even 40 and he does not drink or smoke and has no underlying health conditions. His ring hadn't been syncing a few weeks before that but I guess he kept wearing it. My question is, is there any place I can take the ring so they can try to help me figure out why it won't sync? I tried on my own, but my husband had an iPhone and I've tried all of the trouble shooting options the best I can and still can't figure it out. I have an android and am not too familiar with iPhones, so it's a little tricky on my end. He had also tried to figure it out before his passing. Any help would be appreciated.

Some people just want to care too much about dumb shit.

Are you the asshole for thinking that? No. Going in there and pointing that out to her might make you one, though.

That's sort of the indicator.  Although I think that telling someone they are mentally ill and need help is assaholic is VERY debatable.

And the more you read that post, the more you'll decide it has to be AI.  No way was that written by a rational person, hence the conundrum of whether pointing that out makes one an asshole

I think my point is, if that was your best friend there's no way you just ignore it.

Thursday I was at a Texas Roadhouse. I walked in and couldn’t help but notice that there were peanut shells tracked everywhere. There were cases of peanuts stacked up by the entrance. I got seated way in the back. It was a lot quieter and nice. I sat down, ordered a beer and proceeded to eat some peanuts while I was waiting for my order. All of the sudden, out of nowhere I hear this voice say

“Excuse me”

I didn’t think she was talking to me. again I hear this

“Excuse me”

Again, I paid no attention continuing eating my nuts. All of a sudden a woman with the biggest PhD.( Pentecostal hair doo ) I have ever seen, walks up to the edge of my table, and yells

“ Excuse me, didn’t you hear me?”  Quite shocked I responded

“ I’m sorry I didn’t think you were talking to me. What can I do for you?”

She sez “ my grandson has a peanut allergy. Would you please stop eating peanuts?”

I sez “ if you gave half a fuck about your grandson, you wouldn’t have him within a half a fucking mile with this place”

She looked at me horrified, grabbed the kid by his hand and stomped off toward the front.

After a couple of minutes, the manager comes back to my table and asks “ is there a problem here?”

I said “not anymore “  I then told him the whole thing, complete with foul language.

He says “ it sounded like she asked  politely. I am going to ask you to leave.”

“You’re kidding” I said

When he said no, I downed my beer, belched loudly. And quietly walked out.

AITA?

LMFAO that is fantastic.  I don't know if it was AI generated, but it's perfect nonetheless.

But all jokes aside, here's someone that clearly has a mental health issue.  And I'm actually here talking myself into a socially acceptable enabling response.  Actually asking people how I should respond, knowing the correct answer is not socially accpetable.

I think I might be a bad person.

I learned a long time ago that if you say what you feel, and it is true and correct that it doesn’t have to be nice. Of course you should temper what you say depending on the situation. But sometimes you say or think something that upon reflection is horrible. If it’s true to you. Move on down the road.

I’m a little more nice these days because I am an old man trying to get into heaven. I am guilty of being pretty set in my opinions and am 4 beers short of a 6 pack in patience.  Being in remission after two rounds of chemo I try hard to look for good things. My Grandpa told me that if I were hunting for a fight that I would get one every time.

That being said,  I kind of feel sorry for the way I acted at the restaurant. Then I justify myself  by saying the bitch had it comin. Not nice but true

End drunk rant

One time I was on a flight that had just taken off and they started passing out the snacks, which were peanuts, which I love.  I opened my pack and started eating them and the stewardess came back and snagged them out of my hand…..explaining that two rows back was a young lady who had a peanut allergy.  I was mad. I gave some glares.  You, DA, handled it more like how I would have liked to,  if I had had the chance. So……you were not the a-hole in my book. (bringing a loved one into a place with peanut allergies and peanut shells all over the floor and targeting YOU?  That’s the a-hole!)

There's a difference between being a good person and a nice person. Some of the most rotten people I've had to deal with were nice as pie in the moment.

Apparently, someone took a photo of my license plate when I left. I was reported to the police for non payment. Dude never gave me a bill when he asked me to leave. He reported that the loss was 92.40. I guess it for my beer, a porterhouse veggies, potato that I never got. He is also trying to bill me for the people complainings Linley and a 30 percent fucking GRATUITY.

The police said that this was a courtesy call and suggested that I settle up with the restaurant.

I am going in to town tomorrow and getting a copy of the police report. Then I will deal with the corporate office. I have a feel that they won’t like what I have to say.

Definitely people that take advantage of the nicety of others.  Shaming people into tipping probably the most egregious example.  But shame on me for enabling it.

Oh now we are invested, need the final part 3 when you go to the police station and call corporate.

He SHOULD win on the 30% gratuity.  That's straight-up criminal.

I will typically only give 30% in a couple cases...

Christmas-always give a big one to some waiter/waitress who is doing a good job and seems like they are down and out...typically about $50 on a $50 bill

Small diner breakfast-If my bill is only $10, I can handle giving $3 or $4, that woman didn't do less work than a waitress for dinner just because my sausage and eggs were cheap.

Sitting for a long time (football games, Queen of Hearts drawings, card tournament like Euchre, etc)-about 30% if I am taking up your table for multiple hours.

Other than that I agree, 30% is nuts in normal cases, and this is coming from someone who waited tables all 4 years of college (old Chi-Chi's restaurant, which is actually coming back!...first one just opened in Minnesota)

We’ve discussed this before I’m sure but take out orders, like picking up pizza, we’re not tipping that right?

I maybe give $1 for putting it together for but that's about it.

I make sure pizza delivery is at least a gallon of gas for small orders and 10-15% for big orders.

I mean, I generally tip $4-5 for delivery.  Although lately I've noticed some egregious delivery fees charged by some places, and I kind of feel like if you're charging as much or more than I normally tip then no tip should be necessary.  I look for a closer location, which sometimes is the culprit, or I just no longer order delivery from those places.

Also, especially for delivery, it costs the same whether you're delivery from a pizza shop or a steak house.  To tip 10% on a $100 order....I do it mainly so they don't screw with my food (it's also more time, typically, the driver has to wait for the order to be ready).

Tipping based on a % is pretty wild when you think about it.  Expensive restaurants maybe have less tables and lower turnover, but otherwise you're doing the same work.  You don't really deserve 5X the tip just because the food price is 5X higher.

If I go there regularly, I'll tip about 10% on carry out.  Same idea - I don't think tipping carry out is expected, but if I go regularly I want care in how my food is prepared.
