I meant the one above McCovey that O-Trap guessed.

Question #145:
This pitcher is the only HOFer in the last 50 years to post 150 Ks during his rookie campaign.
I think it might be the Cleveland Indian Dennis Eckersley.
And then Rick Manning stole his wife.

Nice call. It was. Ecks posted 152 Ks his rookie season.

Also, LOL on the second part.

I recalled him coming out as a pretty good flame thrower his first year. He was 13-7 with a 2.60 ERA for a mediocre Tribe team (79-80)....I can't remember why there were 3 games not played
edit: I looked back and found that all the American League teams were missing either 2 or 3 games, while all the National League teams played all 162 games, except the Pirates, Giants, Braves and Astros that are missing one game. I can't find any reason for the missing AL games.
posted by O-TrapLOL He led the minors in triples that year? That's insane.
I remembered that stat from the back of one of his ball cards (maybe his rookie)...he was a power speed guy and I think a big time 100 yard dash guy in hi high school days along with a decent hitter lol. Never stole much but had the speed to early in career.

Did you ever hear the story?

My good friend worked for NESN for like 4 years. He was an Indians fan, from Cleveland. Eck found this out about 3 years into his stint and never talked to him again lol. Still a bit salty. He said he overheard him insulting Rick Manning everytime the Tribe played Boston lol.

I did. Forgot about it until you said that, though.
Question #146
This HOFer became the active career leader in shutouts.....over the next 12 years (including that one) he was passed by 3 different other HOFers for the active career leader....he passed each one of them back before he was done.
Name that HOFer
Question #148....name the 3 that passed him and then he passed back
Rick Manning and Dave Winfield are my least favorite Indians of all-time.
Manning because he stole Eck's wife and it caused friction(ya think) between the two and to keep the peace the Indians trade Eck and kept the good glove nothing special bat of Manning.
Winfield because he was one of the instigators in the Minnesota/Ohio State brawl in the early 70's.

Hmm ... we've got an era, then.
Sutton?
Blyleven?
Steve Carlton?
Nolan Ryan?
Seaver?
Palmer?
Gibson?

Sutton is the answer....when Gibson retired in 75....Perry was leader, Sutton passed him and then Perry passed back...and Sutton passed back
