Seaver has it for a while after he passed Sutton but ol Surton held on forever and passed him back with 2 yr remaining
So at some point, Sutton had it. He was then passed by Perry, Palmer, and Seaver (not sure on the order), and then he reclaimed the active lead?
That's a lot of competition for not of those leads to require anyone retiring.
Question #149:
Of the 27 players in the 500-HR club, only four got there in under 7,000 at-bats.
One of those is Mark McGwire, who holds the record for the fewest at-bats to reach 500 HRs (5,487).
The other three are HOFers. Who are they?

Ruth is correct for the second-lowest number of at-bats with 5,801.
Matthews is 19th. Took him 8,280 at-bats to get there.
Griffey is 10th with 7,320.

Mantle was 9th at 7,300 at-bats. Foxx was 6th at 7,084 at-bats.

Wow. This is a complicated question. I love those.
We're including the dead-ball era, right?
Billy Hamilton?
Honus Wagner?
Appling? Cobb? Pee Wee Reese?
Lofton
Vizquel May have been active leader his last few years?
Lou Brock led for a few years in the '70s. I don't recall him having too many HRs.
Obviously, it's not Rickey. I believe he holds the record for the most career game lead-off HRs.
