Thoughts, hopes, predictions?

Belichick the GOAT of NFL coaching is taking over UNC.

Some speculate he’s setting up his son for a HC job but that seems silly to me…why would Bill need a job to help his son secure one?

All the stuff Belichick hates about the off the field college stuff…he’ll have great people in those positions.

Many keep mentioning being 15 wins from passing Shula, I don’t think that matters at all. Belichick is the GOAT NFL coach regardless.

To me….he’s bored. He’s 73 and his only hobby in life if coaching football. He’s going to coach football and he’s going to a conference that’s up for grabs. The ACC is wide open for the newcomers. Sorry Dabo. Bill’s going to make a load of cash to go with it.

9-3 next year…..playoffs the year after.

Yeah, it's going to be wild seeing UNC competing for a Natty, but I'm sure he'll have them in the playoff for 2026.

I've always liked Belichick. Prick ass media here in Cleveland helped him lose his job when Satan moved the team to Baltiwhore. Cleveland media wanted this talkative, outspoken coach and Belichick wouldn't give it to him. Thought he got a bum deal. Helped turn the team around before the balloon got popped with the announcement of the move.

Will be interesting to see how he adapts to the college game, dealing with kids and the NIL stuff.

As far as being bored, that 24 year old girlfriend he has should keep him from being bored but jmo.

The 10 minutes I’m sure is great….but Bill’s not sleeping more than 4 hours a day. Leaves a lot left

Guess I’m in the minority. Feels like this will be a disaster.

I’m with Laley. Gives me Urban Meyer to the Jaguars vibes.

Seems like he’s just doing it to pass the job on to his son who is also getting hired.

I don't disagree with those that think this could be a shit show, because it probably will.

Has Steve Belichick done anything to earn the head coaching gig if he does in fact get it? I know he was apart of the success in New England with Bill and Brady but hasn’t had much without them. He was the D-coordinator for a 6-6 Washington team this past season. Or is it just straight nepotism.

If Bill can get some portal guys, this is a 9-10 win ceiling team.

Being a college coach today is way different than it was a few years ago.  If he can attract a bunch of transfer talent, he can have success in a very weak league.

hard to say immediately talent seems to be down there now. needs to get a few portal wins and develop some of the guys that are there. ultimately i feel like it'll work out for him and UNC will be powerful in the NIL game and in the NCAA playoffs but it might be 2027 before that run starts. I'm more curious how it's gonna work with his son being waiting in the wings. what does the team look like after BIill stops, could be ugly or awesome and we have no idea. either way it'll be riveting to watch.

That's my opinion. Cranky old guy suddenly gets to navigate the NCAA in full wild west mode with mass transfers and everything. What can go wrong?!? I for one am really looking forward to see how his "my way or fuck you" way of doing things will go over with less mature athletes.

After hearing more about how Belichick plans on operating this, he could be at the forefront of transforming college football. He's already hired a General Manager (Mike Lombardi) and plans on running things like an NFL program. NFL nutrition programs, weight training, etc.

He's likely not going to get the 5 star transfers but, minus TB12, did he really have any 5 stars in New England? He can coach up a bunch of 3 stars and have them NFL ready in 3-4 years. Imagine a program, not in the SEC/Big 10, churning out 3rd rounders and up on a regular basis.

Him taking this job was very likely a smart move. He could possibly revolutionize college football versus potentially tarnishing his GOAT NFL legacy by ending up coaching some shit show (NYJ's sorry Justin/NYG's/Chicago) and having 3-4 losing seasons before retiring.

If I had a kid looking at colleges I'd be more than welcome to have the Hoodie coach them.

The problem is the game itself has passed him by. He couldnt draft for shit fors about a decade now. He couldnt get wins when they were there. He was bad.

I mean he is dating a 24 year old so maybe he’s at that stage in life where he just wants to loosen up and have fun and not give af. He may be able to adjust if he doesn’t take himself so seriously as he used to.

I’m sure he put his feelers out all over the NFL.  Because of his age and management style, no one is going to take him.  A top tier college team won’t take him for the same reason.  So if he wanted to coach in any capacity, it’d have to be something like this.  UNC is a good choice because the expectations will be reasonable, the ACC is very weak compared to the other big conferences, so there’s a reasonable path to the playoff.
