Not true.  They walked that comment back the next day.

They were guaranteed a $2B contract with Operation Warpseed if their vaccine got approved.  They were then largely funded by Germany.  So they had virtually no risk.  And guaranteeing a market has long been an important part in drug development (even without funding on development), something Pfizer acknowledged almost verbatim in that statement.

In other words, even if Pfizer's vaccine was only modestly effective, even if it ranked 20th among 20 other better vaccines receiving approval and never vaccinated a single person....they were guaranteed $2B from Warpseed.

Pulled into a gas station today that didn't have one of those clips on the nozzle that allow you to let it pump by itself.  A real pain in the ass. Thanks a lot Biden.
