First topic, has anyone ever swapped out the trigger on a handgun? My XDS trigger is a little too heavy, especially compared to our Shield, and I'd like to take a little bit off of it. I've found a few spring kits and watched some videos, but I'm not sure I want to go screwing around with it and break it. I have put together a lower receiver, so I'm not completely useless, but there are a lot more moving parts in the XDS after watching a few videos.
Second topic, if you already have a 5.56/.223 rifle, what caliber would you pick for a second? I've got a lower built but no upper to go with it. I'm thinking .308/7.62 right now, but wanted to get other feedback/suggestions.

Any recommendations on cheaper uppers? I have all of the lower parts and need an upper. Palmetto armory has good deals but I’m waiting to pull the trigger.
I also need a new pistol. Between the Springfield and Glock 19, does anyone have a preference. I want the “full size” that is still somewhat concealable.
Anderson Manufacturing makes a nice rifle, I'd recommend their uppers for sure. I've got one of their no lube RF85 rifles, it's a fantastic gun. As for the pistol, I'm partial to Springfield but I'm not sure you could go wrong either way.
The Springfield XD mod 2s are super cheap right now. I just picked up a sub compact 40 for 329.

I have never replaced a trigger personally. I have a 10/22 that my dad gave me that is 20+ years old. It eats everything i feed it and is a blast to shoot. I'm in some facebook groups and they are always talking about swapping triggers and making improvements and that seemed like a waste to me. I told my dad about it and he said "the first thing I did when I got that 10/22 was have the trigger replaced." So lol I guess that's why it shoots so smooth.
I also have a small double action pistol that had the most ridiculously long trigger pull. I had the trigger replaced in that as well and the length of the pull reduced 25%.
Maybe I could have done it myself but I was afraid I would fuck it up.
I wouldn't mind getting an AR10 or an M14, but I don't think it's in the budget anytime soon
I've been searching for complete uppers this evening. Man, the pickings are slim. I'm glad, because that means they are selling well, but it's annoying when I'm in the market for one immediately.

Depends on what you want to use it for...
No specific need right now, just throwing lead down range, or maybe killing varmints back at my mom's or grandma's farms when I visit.

You can build a .17. Cheaper at the range, good varmint round.

I'm a big fan of .22. When i looked at .17 caliber rifles they were ridiculously expensive. Are there any that are reasonable? (Think 10-22)

Yes the .17 do cost a little more but you get what you pay for.. Golden Boy Henry .17 is what I'm looking at but also I want to have something nice to pass down to my grandson and or grandsons... One of my daughter is not a gun fan... for her family.

I'm looking on gun broker and I savages for ~$350 which isn't terrible. I also see Volquartsen for $1600 and up. That's what I've seen before and that is a lot more than I'm willing to pay for a varmint/plinking gun.

Henry Golden Boy .17hmr $567 to $650.00 you don't have to get the Golden Boy you can get a Steel Boy much less
Henry Golden Boy w/ scope Scope range from. 350.00 to 450.00 depending what you're looking for... With shopping around could get under a 1000.00
for shooting varmint/ plinking the .17 hmr is perfect round, 11 round lever action Henry Golden Boy is just fun, quality and a keeper for a nice addition to a weapon collection
Ghost Guns
The other day I ran into an individual ( I knew from business) who has been building custom weapon ( both upper and lower) from scratch. Very interesting builds. He state he can build anything, after visiting his operation and personal range .. it was crazy. ....he does keep it semi-auto .
I'm thinking (mixed thoughts) of having him help me build my own personal Ghost Gun...

I have seen this price too. Do you like it? It doesn't seem the 9s are on sale as much. Are they good for carrying? I like that you get a 13 and 16 round magazine in the 3 inch in the 9

I bought a Ruger SR9 for home protection. It is my first gun and was recommended as a good choice for learning and home defense. I have taken it to the range one time and got a little comfortable with it. Any other owners?
I was initially going to purchase a SR9 (or SR9C, I can't remember exactly) as my first handgun, but there was a long wait for some reason (this was a few years ago) and I got impatient and jumped over to the Springfield XDS line. I did like the Ruger, but I'm not upset I didn't end up with one in the end.
