It doesn’t help that he’s a raging asshole in real life. I still like the movie and watch it every year, but I find it highly overrated
Agree about Chase. Every bio or interview seems to confirm this. I frankly never got the appeal. SNL, he's not funny at all. Vacation, he's okay, it's the rest of the movie that's strong. Caddyshack, he's actually a drawback to an otherwise brilliant films. Fletch, not funny at all. Christmas vacation, he's a placeholder for Eddie's next seen. You get my opinion. The guy's brand of comedy is simply not funny in any way.

Says you. He’s a dick, but he’s hilarious to me. Not in everything, but I love the dry, sarcastic one liners he delivers.

I mean, he did say this: I frankly never got the appeal.

Yes and to each his own. Comedy is very individual in taste and obviously a lot of people have love Chevy over the years. To me he always seems like a guy that has a picture of the director with a goat and that's the only reason he's in the film.
This is tough, mostly because I don't think any of these are great films unless viewed thru the Christmas prism. Other than It's A Wonderful Life, and Home Alone and Bad Santa (as a comedies).
I really like A Christmas Story for the nostalgia. Miracle on 34th Street is probably my favorite. As a young kid, Rudolph crushes them all.

Now that you mention it, I don't really find him that funny, either. But he's great in Caddyshack - the character isn't intended to be a clown like Murray and Dangerfield.

I think White Christmas is a real good movie even if it wasn’t in front of a Christmas backdrop.

I voted for the WWII scenes backdrop, and of course, the shot of the building about ready to collapse.
Mary was quite the looker.
This doesn't deserve to be on the list but Office Christmas Party is an underrated Christmas movie.
I watched Elf, and it was actually pretty good. A lot better than I remembered.
Also watched "The Santa Claus", and it was not nearly as good as I remembered.
