I watched avengers infinity war last night and I thought it was good but not great. These are my unorganized thoughts this morning.

I would not necessarily rate it higher than Captain America civil war or Black Panther. I think one of my main issues is that I had sky high expectations it was never going to meet.

It definitely had some funny moments but l also thought it tried a little too hard in some places. (When the guardians found Thor, I thought they were trying a little too hard)

And then they didn't look for more survivors? Maybe Thor only survived because he's a God but I was disappointed Valkyrie was gone. I was not sad to see Loki die.

I like comic books and comic book movies but I'm not such a geek that I will get offended if they change things. Maybe this is how it went in the comic books, but it seems to me that the Hulk is a big pussy that is afraid of Thanos because he got his ass kicked. That seems out of character for the Hulk I know.

And they seemed to be just handing over the stones every time Thanos threatened someone. Gamora gave up the location of the soul stone to save Nebula. They tried to destroy Vision's stone but too late and then Thanos used the time stone to undo that. And then Dr strange didn't love Tony but he gave up the time stone to save him. I know Strange hinted at that being the only way to stop him but it didn't even seem like they were trying. I feel like they could have used the time stone much better.

My final issue, which is more my issue for not knowing. I didn't know this was part one so I was left with a very dissatisfied feeling of no resolution at the end.(kind of like civil war) I'm hoping they can make that pay off in the next movie.

Also... they took the fricking time stone to Thanos. They put him to sleep and almost had the gauntlet off, but Star Lord couldn't wait 2 more minutes to punch him in the face? Stupid...

Doctor Manhattan would disintegrate all of the Avengers, in an instant.

I loved it...pretty much Citizen Kane as far as I’m concerned.

I agree with you on Gamora giving up the location way too easily. But the key to the whole movie and setup for the next movie, in my opinion, was the Strange/Stark interactions. Dr. Strange tells him he will let them die if it means giving up the stone. Then Strange goes over all the possible outcomes and gives up the stone. Either, Thanos getting all the stones and eliminating half the population was the only way for Fury to trigger the message to Captain Marvel or Strange saw that Tony was critical to saving the world in the next Avengers movie and he needed to keep him alive. Or both.

Overall, it is impossible to rate this movie since it's only half over. I was entertained during the movie. There were no dull moments. Every scene appeared to be important to this plot or perhaps to setup something in the next movie. There were quite a few laughs. The Thor/Rocket/Groot dynamic was great. The Star Lord/Thor 'rivalry' did seem to be trying too hard at times.

One of the only things that bugged me was when Spiderman/Ironman were trying to pull the glove off Thanos. Ironman has plenty of gadgets in his suit that could have just cut his hand off. I understand they couldn't win that battle but still kind of dumb there.

That is my view as well. It is half a movie. I saw it with my wife and she knows a little about the MCU. She enjoyed it, but said it felt incomplete. I laughed and said yeah, the sequel is next summer. She laughed and said oh that makes sense then. It is kind of like the last season of Game of Thrones. We have only seen half of it. Who knows, maybe Captain Marvel will have some sort of power to undo most of the actions in the last section of the film.

I enjoyed it overall. I felt Thanos was a pretty damn good villain and Brolin did a good job at the role. For what the movie had to do in mixing in all these characters, it did a good job.

Mrs. Fish said, and I quote: "Jesus, I literally feel victimized right now." She was livid at the ending lol.

She felt like she wasted her time? Or she just wanted some type of conclusion?

She liked the movie...she just hates cliffhanger endings.

Didn't notice it in my theater but it was mostly teens/adults at the 5:10 show on Friday. My neighbor went to a Sunday matinee and said kids were crying left and right and his 5th grade daughter was crying when Gamora died and his son held it together until Spiderman vaporized. Much like this forum...Avengers is Serious Business.

My 11 year old is highly functional autistic, and was yelling at the screen "I hate Marvel".

I had to ruin for him the probable plot of the next Avengers (knowing what happened in the comics) just to calm him down.

He was "ok" with Spiderman but was really upset about Dr. Strange and Black Panther "because Spiderman has had a lot of movies, they only got 1 of their own and are dead".

That was his reasoning.

The little girl behind us was balling, she was probably 8 years old. I think she was crying because of Groot (can't remember for sure). Her grandma told me it was ok if I ruined Avengers 4 plot for her too to help calm her down.

I am not going to lie, I really thought it was really well done, I would give it a 9/10 and the only possible critique is that it could have been longer to make some of the transitions from one major scene to the next not seem as "choppy".

It was dark, heroes died (although I would have liked to see more die in battle...), it was everything Infinity War should have been.

It wasn't the best movie in the history of the world, but it was really really good. It will break all box office records except maybe Gone With the Wind's box office adjusted for inflation.

I fInally saw it yesterday. The tone was set early with Thanos throwing Hulk around. I'll admit, him killing Loki got me. I didn't really care for Dr. Strange's solo movie but I enjoyed hm in Ragnarok and now this. I didn't really care that Hawkeye and Ant Man weren't in it. I missed the Hulk though. I'll be honest, I didn't really care for the fading away of the characters. I am assuming they will be brought back in the next one, but not before the end or at the end? If they have to use the time stone, that would obviously be at the end and it would make the movie a little less for me simply because some of the characters who left helped make this one entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed Thanos. The title prob should have included his name rather than the Avengers, but that's not a big deal. I couldn't get that excited about the post credits scene because I barely knew anything about Captain Marvel untIl I Googled her. I really enjoyed it though. I'll probably go see it again. I didn't notice Joss Whedon's name in the credits. I wonder why?

Oh and Peter Dinklage as a giant was funny.

I agree with you on Thanos. He was a great, great bad guy. Not that stark-raving lunatic that every other Superhero movies seems to have to deal with. He was a little deeper. More calculated.

I'd like to see a Thanos spin off movie. A Rogue One type of film, showing what Thanos was up to this whole time behind the scenes, culminating in the attack on the Asgardian ship, right where this movie starts.

Not a bad idea.

I have heard rumors that since Captain Marvel will be in the 1990s that it will have some back story on Thanos as well, maybe even Captain Marvel vs Thanos in his first time trying to get the IG. Rumors rumors rumors though...

I have heard that about the Captain Marvel film, as well. The pager Fury used to send a message to her seems like it would validate those rumors. I'm wondering how they are going to handle this Antman/Wasp movie. Is it going to be set in it's own little world or after half the population has been wiped out? No matter what, it's sure going to feel like a letdown after Infinity War. Seems a little out of place in the chronological order but I trust it will be entertaining regardless.

If I had to guess, the Ant Man and Wasp will be set prior to and during the Infinity War, and that is why they are not in it. Even during Avengers movie, they hinted that the Ant Man is under house arrest and busy. I could see the end of the Ant Man movie dealing with people disappearing.

Not a bad thought, you are probably correct.

I could see the Wasp only making a single movie debut and her disappearing...ok, maybe she is back for Avengers 4 as well.

If you ever watched the cartoon or movies with Shazam in the 80s, apparently the main character is Captain Marvel. I would have sworn his name was Shazam but I looked him up on IMDB and his name was Captain Marvel.

In the comics there was a Captain Mar-Vell that was an alien with basically the powers of Superman in DC. Then there was some explosion/accident when both Carol Danvers and Captain Mar-Vell were in a ship together that killed Captain Mar-Vell but left Carol Danvers with Mar-Vell's powers. Originally she was listed as Ms. Marvel, later Captain Marvel...

I know, nerd alert (admittedly never read a comic growing up, but did read a few 'novel' adaptations).
