I didn't really care for Dr. Strange's solo movie but I enjoyed hm in Ragnarok and now this.

Also, I couldn't have had lower expectations for the solo Dr Strange movie. I didn't really like the comic and I'm not a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch. I only watched it because I'll watch any of these super hero movies and it was at red box. I thought it was pretty good.

Out of sheer curiosity I looked up some typical theater numbers.

It changes from opening week and from there week to week, but when averaged out the length of the film in the theaters, the studio gets about 1/2 and the theater gets about 1/2 of the ticket prices.

I read that Avengers: IW cost $320 million to make and another estimated $150-160 million in marketing, so nearly half a billion dollars total.

So, Disney will not make a dime on this movie until it hits the $1 billion dollar mark in global ticket sales.

It obviously should hit that number easy, as Avengers 1, Avengers 2, Black Panther, Iron Man 3, and Captain America Civil War have all hit the $1 billion mark.

I think it should easily hit the $2 billion mark but will fall shy of Avatar's $2.7 billion world wide mark. Thoughts?

Not something I follow but I would imagine it will go down as one of the biggest movies of all-time. 1st week- it's hard to compare to some of the other big releases that were done in summer or on holiday breaks. With the reviews of Infinity War, whatever they end up naming the next Avengers movies, coming out a year from now...that movie has a chance to break some records.

I think if they opened Avengers 5 on Memorial Day weekend next year, it would do the biggest 5 day (Thursday-Monday) total in the history of film (not adjusted for inflation).

I agree with everything you said, but technically IW was Avengers 3, the next one will be 4...but only because they named Civil War a Captain America movie...

You are right. I had my numbers mixed up.

Just watched it again. I didn't see anything that I didn't catch the first time. A good 40 people at a 10:30 a.m. showing. Not too bad for the little city I go to.

So, that ending was dumb. Why “kill” people that we know aren’t dead? We already have the announcement of Spiderman 2, GOTG 3 and Black Panther 2. I literally couldn’t care less about he ending of that movie because of that. Complete stupidity to not pick characters who could actually die.

1. Spiderman and BP new movies can be set before Infinity War. Marvel has already said that the MCEU will not be "linear" after IW and Avengers 4 anymore.

2. They have already said that GOTG3 will have a different cast, now I doubt it will be as different as would require for all those that "died". But I fully expect Gamora and maybe 1 more to stay "dead".

Yeah, I mean I get that. But if they go back in time with their movies, they just wont be as good. Its either ruining this movie, or future movies. Seems like bad planning by Marvel.

Anyway, I have a hard time believing they are all dead.

If you know anything about the comic series this movie is played off of, then you know they aren't all "permanently" dead. They are currently dead for sure...but if someone else gets ahold of the gauntlet...of course it is loosely based off the Infinity Gauntlet series in the comics...so they could change it all up.

Everything up to this point has been coordinated and well planned. So I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt.

And yes. I have a hard time believing they are all dead. I feel like the upcoming Ant-Man/Wasp movie is going to be in no man's land. It has to be set prior to the events of IW, otherwise they expect the audience to believe that none of the major characters happened to be in the 50%.

I think Captain Marvel next year is going to be the key step up for Avengers 4.

Thought it was obvious....one of the stones is time travel right......acquire it, go back a little bit and bam they are alive

On top of it one of the stones is the "soul stone". In the original comics they were gems, not stones, but the same soul gem actually "housed" all the dead souls after Thanos killed half the universe.

The movie alluded to this as when he snapped his fingers he goes to a "place" where he can see Gamora as a child...that is supposed to be the soul stone dimension or whatever.

Someone has to/will find a way to either go back in time with the Gauntlet or extract all the "souls" out of the soul stone.

I think the comics went the soul gem route instead of the time gem route, but I could be mistaken.

I'm expecting it to be concurrent with the way they've been promoting the movie. They should explain why they weren't there.

Captain marvel is set in the 90s. She is supposed to be the most powerful yet, but I have low expectations...
