posted by HereticI'll admit to being confused. On the map thread, you have Trump winning, but on this one, you regularly say that Harris should win. That is a little strange, as for one to win, they do kinda have to win the map and get the EC. Am I missing something obvious or is this just Overthinking 101 on display?
A handful of reasons why it seems confusing.
1.) I have changed my map a couple of times and will change it again before the election, most likely. While I don't really believe polling anymore, they are the only good indicator to go by.
2.) I'm confused by polling in general. I still don't understand why these polling sites sample their Dem polling higher than Republican polling. I've seen it vary from D+5 to D+15. I can only guess that it's because Republicans juke away from being polled? I don't know.
3.) There are 27 states that are keeping Covid measures for allowing vote harvesting. Add to that the Dems have a better ground game historically. The Republicans just don't have the scaffolding in place for it like the Dems do.
4.) Nancy Pelosi has said that her life's mission right now is to stop Trump from getting into the WH again. So my inner conspiracy theorist does think that some sort of shenanigans will happen. Even if it's just contesting the election.
5.) Dem voters (and a good amount of independent voters) are in high ecstasy with the very idea of a woman presidency. With the bonus of having a bi-racial woman, the pleasure of it is just too overwhelming to them.
6.) I have Trump winning my map right now, but that's only because I haven't figured out a path for Kamala *yet*.

I learned that pretty quickly.
Hahaha! Thanks guys, but I'm not even close to being the most sensible. I will defer that to like_that (who got me paying attention to Dave Smith) and gut.
I'm just curious about things and look them up.

I consider like_that the most intelligent person on this site

Apparently she reverse-jinxed your assumption!
So I just saw a short vid of Gretchen Whitmire wearing a Harris/Walz hat mocking the Catholic communion. Was that supposed to increase the Catholic vote for Democrats?

I saw that one a while ago. Very strange.

I know this was sort of tongue in cheek, but the more I see and hear interviews out of swing states, the more I think Trump wins easily.
High cost of living and the economy is tied to Biden and Harris. People are choosing Trump because they believe he is better for the economy.
I thought Harris would be able to improve as the economy has improved and inflation has gone down, but not enough in the states that matter, PA, MI, NV, AZ.
All of the terrible stuff Trumps says and does does not matter to those people as they trust him more for the economy and that matters.
Trump may have it sewed up by midnight.
I do expect Harris to challenge the result and call for recounts too.

Did you see Kamala in Detroit with the two kids who yelled "Jesus Saves" at one of her rallies and she replied "you're at the wrong rally....you need to go to the smaller one down the street." Second part is probably a lie as she's having issues getting people to show up for hers.
I'm not religious, by any means, but she's firmly entrenching her party as the "Atheist Party." Fiance's uncle is a "She's AMAZING/Kamala can do know wrong" socialist and anytime someone utters the word "god" he rolls his eyes and acts like he wants to puke.

Am I having a stroke?!
My Dems are grasping yet fighting non-stop with the “he’s a felon!!!!!!!”
My only hope is Trump dies immediately after he loses and we can go back to McCain/Romney Republicans. Hopefully he hasn't ruined that party for good. Then the Dems wont have to nominate the antithesis of Trump too.

I know you're saying this because of the way he leans but he may not be wrong.
I'm sure this may have been mentioned but typically the question "do you believe that the country is headed in the right direction?" is asked not far before an election. About 80% said "no." Historically, this has been a horrible sign for the current regime to retain.
I think he's also right in that many see a Harris regime as "same old, same old" and likely worse for the economy, border security and international relations. As to the third, I think that countries like Russia, China and Iran see a Harris regime as a doormat that they will be able to walk all over. They essentially got that with Biden.

If Kamala loses the blame of it should be laid at the feet of the party bosses. They should have made it clear to Biden that he was not going to run again. That way they could have had a real primary. But they tried to pull another hoax on people by insisting Biden was well. Now they only had three months to run somebody. Eh, she still has a shot at this.
