I'd rather college ball switch to a 25 second clock than continue calling games so tightly

If it changes it will go to 30 not 25. Thought I read somewhere that the ACC is experimenting with 30 second shot clock this year in exhibition games.

25 is WAY to big of a change. Not that 25 cant happen, but it cant go from 35 to 25. It need a few years at least at 30.

Think 30 is a good number. 25 wouldn't be good in college. Teams that press would have a huge advantage. If it takes them 9 seconds to get the ball over they'd almost immediately gave to hurry to get a shot up after 1 pass. Just not sure that'd be good for the game. 30 though seems like a great idea.

Agreed. As Laley said, jumping to 25 seconds at this juncture would be a disaster, and honestly I don't think it'd be good for the game period. While I believe the game as it currently stands is just fine, a 30-second shot clock would probably serve the college game well and, in the long run, make for an even more exciting product.

The ACC's experimentation with the reduced shot clock in the preseason will be interesting, though ultimately unlikely to reveal anything of value as it will merely render the D-II opponents even more under-matched. Implementing the experimental shot clock in big early-season tournaments, like the NCAA did the lengthened three-point arc in 2002-03 (before it was ultimately changed permanently several years after), would serve as a more useful trial run IMO.

It hurts when one of your own basically throws the entire institution under the bus...

It really looks bad for an institution that supposedly has high academic standards. Schools like UNC shouldn't have "fill-in-the-blank" Studies majors. Actually, no school should have them.

UNC might get a postseason ban if they dig into this and it's similar to the football one.

Still dont on they why they ignored the basketball sides participation in the whole thing last time around.

Bingo. Why ignore? Because its the NCAA! They are idiots! We'll see how this plays out.....but IMO, they wont' dig too deep. If they find more, its only going to make them look more stupid.

Former Vanderbilt guard Eric McClellan has told CBSSports.com he's committed to Gonzaga.
The 6-4 guard led the Commodores in scoring last season through 12 games (14.3 points) but was dismissed from the program after a violation of university policy.
He will be eligible to play for the Bulldogs during the 2014-15 season as long he completes three separate courses over the next seven weeks. Once those courses are completed, McClellan will be eligible to play during the second semester of next season. There is also a chance a waiver will be filed with the NCAA with the hope that McClellan will be eligible for the entire season as along as he completes his academic requirements this summer.
A dynamic scorer, McClellan will only add to a loaded Gonzaga perimeter which already features veterans Kevin Pangos and Gary Bell along with USC transfer Byron Wesley.
"They're (Gonzaga's staff) giving me an opportunity to resurrect my career," McClellan said. "I couldn't be happier. There's a lot of honesty and trust between us right now."
Mark Few's squad went 29-7 last season and lost in the Round of 32 to Arizona. The Bulldogs return three starters from last year's team in Pangos, Bell, and 7-1 center Przemek Karnowski while also adding Kentucky transfer Kyle Wiltjer.

Had rumored eligibility issues from the get go. Even was discussed before he committed and when UK was thought to be in the driver's seat for him.

Sucks for SMU, and college bball. Wouldve loved to see what Larry Brown couldve done with him/SMU with him. Kinda like when Rick Majerus died with one of his more talented teams ever ready to be coached by him.

This might be your "more."

http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/26026918/prime-prep-shutdown-by-state-officials#.U8WtXF3oUG8.twitter

The prep school, Prime Prep (founded by Deion Sanders) is being shutdown by Texas Department of Education officials. Failure to comply with state education codes and standards and multiple incidents of unsatisfactory performance. One case was Mudiay.

I know it's only August, but watching UK dismantle a French pro team consisting of Lionel Chalmers, Tasmin Mitchell, Da'Sean Butler, Daryl Watkins and 3 other former D-1 players, it's hard to not be super impressed. To boot, playing without Willie Cauley-Stein and Trey Lyles, the 10 rotation guys currently playing all look very good.

Most impressive? Freshman Tyler Ullis. An absolute stud PG who will be a nightmare change of pace from the Harrison twins. The improvement of Dakari Johnson and Alex Poythress have also really stood out.

Also, Karl Towns is going to be crazy good. If he somehow stays 2 years, watch out.
