Might as well get it started as the new season is officially upon us. Tough end to 13-14, but already in a basketball funk and can't wait for more.

I hope I am wrong, mostly cause Im not sure I can go through another shitty season. But I am about 60% sure Tom Crean will be fired by this time next year due to another bad season (though, better than this year). And because of the fact that he seems clueless in almost every facet of being a head coach.

He seems like a good guy at heart, but he is just not cut out for this job. He needs to go, but selfishly, I dont want him to go because it means IU sucked again lol

If I am Indiana, I might even give Crean another two years just to see where Brad Stevens' allegiance stands after three years in the NBA. I don't see Boston letting him go -- or him leaving -- after just two seasons, especially since the Celts are in rebuilding mode and in the market for a potentially franchise-changing draft pick this summer. Then again, when the time comes to remove Crean, I'm sure Indiana will talk to Stevens' people behind closed doors or at least send out a feeler to see if there is any interest.
As much as I want Stevens at Duke, he'd fucking kill it at Indiana. It's really the perfect place for him.

I tend to agree, but its a unique situation with Brad Stevens. He is Indiana through a through. Born and raised. Went to HS in Indiana, college in Indiana, and coached his entire career at Indiana until Boston. It is widely reported that he wanted the IU job and was waiting it out, but then Boston came calling and the NBA was too much to turn down (whereas the other colleges werent). Now, it might be, unfortunately, really off timing for both parties. Stevens just took the gig and Crean is running out of time. The only way to make it work might be to do what you suggested and give Crean more time unless Stevens is willing to leave Boston so quick...

Steve Prohm of Murray State is a guy who will get a big time job. Possibly Alabama next year after Anthony Grant is canned.

To add to that, he and many others wanted Stevens instead of Crean last time around. But, that was a stretch at the time with Stevens' lack of a track record.

I DO think the job will be MUCH more attractive this time around. Crean showed that Indiana can still get it done as a brand name, despite being gutted at the start.

Ollie and Hoiberg could certainly get more profitable gigs, but would they? Two guys who basically got their dream job and are already having big success.

Hoiberg seems like an NBA guy, even runs an NBA offense imo. Ollie I could see sticking around the college game.

Lots of rumors (mainly on Lakers message boards) of Kevin Ollie going to Los Angeles. He grew up around LA and played high school ball there before heading to Connecticut. Haven't seen anything about him referring to the Lakers as a dream job, but I mean it's basically the mountain top of the profession, especially for former pro guys.
That said, I think Ollie stays at UConn.
Calipari seems to have quashed the Rex Chapman Cal to LA rumor, and I believe him (especially after Az bringing up Cal's son the other day).

Especially if UConn can get into the ACC in the next two or three years. The ACC will have 15 members after Maryland leaves this summer and Louisville joins. As for now, though, the AAC could be on the verge of a greatness (at least in the immediate future), with Larry Brown at SMU and Cincinnati and Memphis all on the rise. UConn is one of the great programs in the history of the game and I don't see any reason why Ollie can't continue that high level of success where he is right now. The next couple of years will be very interesting.

It'd certainly make the off-season more exciting (with one of the bluebloods opening a coaching search and the ripple effect it would have), but Cal has seemed pretty definite about coming back since the Final Four. So I'd lean toward this not happening.

Not really. A BCS job, I should say. Maybe he could get a better one if Murray has an NCAA run. They return their whole roster and they were better than expected this year.

Once Embild announces that he is declaring for the draft, Jabari Parker will announce he is coming back to Duke.

The main attraction would just be coaching the Lakers who are possibly in position for another run in the next two or three years, depending on whom they draft and if any big free agents come to LA in that span of time. They'll likely hire a proven NBA guy, though. That's my guess.
