The fuck? I checked TheScore a little bit ago and UNC was up by 7 with like 1:30 to play.

Exactly when I turned it back and watched....UNC choked and Duke nearly matched them with missed ftfriendfromlowry;1706502 wrote:The fuck? I checked TheScore a little bit ago and UNC was up by 7 with like 1:30 to play.

Paige got fouled. But it's a foul that will never be called. And I'm ok with it not being called.

Hell of a game. There really haven't been a whole lot of great games this season, but that was an instant classic.

Love Duke's offense but defense in the paint will keep them from getting past sweet 16

One of the better missed FTs you will see.

Dookies have 8 scholarship players. Basically only played 6 tonight. Not sure that will get it done in the tourny.

I came away from that game more impressed with Carolina than Duke relative to what I thought going in.

But if Tyus Jones plays like that...he's so damn good.
And Jay Will is right. If Carolina can play 40 minutes with a chip on their shoulder, they can beat anyone.

Tyus Jones was a boss tonight. He went right for the jugular. Love the way he attacks at will.
That ranks right up there with the Austin Rivers game as the absolute best this series has had to offer in the last decade. Duke-Carolina rarely disappoints.
Carolina played a tremendous game tonight. If they play that way in the Dean Smith Center, Duke will get run out of the building.

As for the No. 1 pick in this class, I'm clearly biased, but I think it'd be a difficult argument to make for anyone but Jahlil Okafor. The kid is just better than everyone else. He is a beast.

He is not just better than everyone else, and his defense leaves a lot to be desired as a rim protector. But he is clearly in the discussion.

I don't think arguing Towns is that difficult, but I would say it's only those 2 in consideration for #1reclegend22;1706517 wrote:As for the No. 1 pick in this class, I'm clearly biased, but I think it'd be a difficult argument to make for anyone but Jahlil Okafor. The ONLY plausible exception would be if Philly gets #1 and they wanted Russell because of Noel/Embiid, but in that situation I think they would try and trade down.

People compare Mudiay to a bigger Wall or Rose. I wouldn't discount him either. Russell is a long shot for #1, but the same arguments for Mudiay apply to Russell somewhat.

In terms of his offensive skill set, there is not a better big man in college basketball right now. Again, I am biased. Defensively, I agree. He is not as good as he should be in that area considering his physical attributes and enormous potential. He was really pissing me off last night haha.Laley23;1706518 wrote:He is not just better than everyone else, and his defense leaves a lot to be desired as a rim protector. Ok, well now we are talking only Big Men? That changes the landscape dramatically.reclegend22;1706604 wrote:In terms of his offensive skill set, there is not a better big man in college basketball right now. Again, I am biased. Okafor has the best big man skill set, no doubt. But, Kaminsky has more range and thus could be coupled with another post in the NBA more fluidly. A Dirk type PF who can knock down the 3 with ease.
And I would take Okafor over Towns, but Towns has been the best player for Kentucky the last 5 games I have watched. Not as far along as Okafor at this point, but it seems he is coming into his own as the season progresses. Id say their ceilings are very similar.

Towns is a beast defensively and has shown the ability to guard both forward spots and the 5. Both can handle the ball and pass very well.
Per 40 numbers for both:
Okafor - 23.2 PPG, 12.2 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.9 BPG, 3.5 TOPG
Towns - 17.5 PPG, 12.5 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.8 SPG, 4.6 BPG, 2.6 TOPG

Kyle Wiltjer dropped 45 last night. He is going to absolutely dominate that league next season and should put up numbers worthy of All-America consideration. Gonzaga is the perfect stage for that kid.

This is basically how I feel. It's a shame, really, because Duke possesses the most dominant offensive big man in the country and arguably the nation's best backcourt (top two or three at worst). The defense, however, is plagued by instability. It will bring this team down early once again.Ironman92;1706506 wrote:Love Duke's offense but defense in the paint will keep them from getting past sweet 16
Okafor's sheer force alone should prevent another colossal collapse in the first round, but who'd have believed a team led by Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood could've lost to fucking Mercer.

Texas Tech basketball is pathetic. Bobby Knight, fail. Tubby Smith, fail. It's amazing they can't at least be competitive considering that almost every other Texas school can in basketball.
