FWIW, I was around a lot of Bills fans last night (cue LJ telling us how he knows everything about the Bills fan base...) and the consensus was none of them were happy that we took away Pettine.

Ravens don't have the money to do it. If Farmer pulls the tag, doesn't that give Mack the freedom to go anywhere?

Yeah but he'd have to turn down money from Cleveland's multi year off that would still be more than anyone else's

I think he just doesn't want to play/live in cleveland anymore. I'd just keep the tag to play it safe.

Something big must have happened right? Not sure why he would tweet that otherwise. He already retweeted some account that said he was traded and said it was false so I wonder what's up.

Browns signed Paul McQuistan, formerly of the Seahawks, to compete for a starting position at G. I like the move. He started 14 games for Seattle, and they won the Super Bowl, so he should at least be a solid stopgap for a year or two if he stay healthy.

In reading a little more, it makes sense that there's something to Haden's tweet. One person suggested the Browns potentially low-balled Haden, which would be disappointing, but Farmer stated today that Haden is not being shopped, so let's hope this is true.

OBR said the Haden deal was pretty much done. Both sides were happy.

Let's hope to see it official shortly. Hopefully, Mack sees what these guys are doing and signs on the dotted line as well. I think this squad could almost be a .500 ball club BEFORE the draft. Love the way Farmer is shaping the team and bringing in veteran winners to lead.

Anybody understand how compensatory picks work? I don't understand how the Browns didn't get one for losing TJ Ward.

Compensatory picks are awarded the following season. The Browns replaced Ward with Whitner, so I'm not sure if they'll get anything next year anyway. You need to lose a player and not replace them with equal or greater value.

I don't know how they work either, but found an article (that I have not read) that seems to address the topic.

Basically the NFL has a secret formula they use to give picks based on FA lost vs FA signed.
