As much as BR says the Browns pass defense was only a top defense because teams ran all over us, they still were a top ten total defense. They also were top 5 in points allowed. Very young defense too. It's hard to believe with numbers like that this team is 3-5 years away as some QQ about.

Just imagine if we had an offense that kept them off the field. There is room for improvement, but a decent offense would do wonders.

They would be a top 3 defense easily if that was the case. If the Browns somehow made their offense a middle of the pack offense, this team would be in the playoffs. Yes, I know there is a lot a work to make that happen.

Top 3 might be stretching it a little bit, but they would definitely be good. They certainly have some impressive young players in place, and there are just a few spots that need upgraded. The offense is another story. They should spend a majority of their picks in this draft to supplement their offense and try to snag a corner that could fill in admirably along the way. While we may not be a contender this year, if we due draft wisely, we could be in contention in another couple years.

Which is why I am against taking the cornerback with the 4th pick. I have nothing against him, but I really want them to load up on offense in free agency and the draft.

What party? When was the last time there was a party in Brown's country? Getting RG3 with the second pick, at least would have been a step in the right direction.

We still need some depth on the Dline lber. This team shored up in the redzone, but doesn't pass the eye test yet for a pwn defense. We got extremely luck in that almost no injuries on the dline, and DQ stayed healthy all season. Also we still need another CB (move Brown to FS), another good DE, and some quaility depth at LBer. Probably an OLB starter. I for one do not want to count on Fujita again this season. Great base on defense, needs work. Offense is another mess all together.

Free agency tomorrow at 4pm. Within the first 48 hours they are expected to reach out to Flynn, Mark Clayton and the Rams regarding Danny Amendola. Amendola has been tendered at a 2nd round level and they had discussed acquiring him when they were in talks about RG3. I think they will swing & miss on Flynn as he will likely wait for the Peyton Manning "dominoes" to fall.

As far as the Fulita comments they are looking to fill his position through free agency. Hawthorne's (Seattle) name was already discussed.

Also sounds like a good possibility that they will have discussions with Hillis today.

I am hoping Manning goes to the Cards. I much rather have Kolb (John Kolb as the Cleveland machette fan referred him as lol) than Flynn. We would have a good shot to get Kolb with his ties to Heckert.

Im interested to see how the Cards deal with Kolb's 7 million dollar option that they have to make a decision on by Friday. If Peyton still hasn't made up his mind, will the Cards gamble and opt not to pay him, or will they play it safe and pay him the 7 mil?

I'm starting to think that too. It's just his damn concussions that concern me. Mary Kay Cabot seems to think they have no interest while Lane Adkins (OBR) thinks they will be a player if he becomes available.

Figure was released this morning that the Browns only have $17.4 million, with the rollover, in cap space. That just doesn't sound right but, if true, doesn't leave them a whole lot to play with.

this....probably one of the only things on the last few pages I fully agree with on this thread. As far as Fujita goes, does anyone think he is going to be among those suspended some games for the Saints Bounty shennanigans ?

Just saw this figure this morning. I find it hard to believe but it's possible. I didn't see Heckert being a player in FA but this would limited him more. I could see some cuts/restructures (Steinbach/Fujita/Watson) bringing the figure lower.

I was just going to post something like this. I like to keep tabs on the other teams in the AFC North because it always seems that come the days after free agency or the draft I can be fairly satisfied with what the Browns do, when I look at the other 3 teams and think " Shit, the Ravens keep getting better, or the Steelers did a smart thing etc"

Cap space AFC North
Steelers........10.5 million under the cap
Ravens.........14.45 million under the cap
Browns.........17.4 million under the cap
Bengals........49.9 million under the cap......the question I have is, does Mike Brown spend that moldy money, ( he doesnt have to till 2014 under the new agreement about having to spend a certain % of the cap) they could be a real player if they do not to mention dangerous

If Mike Brown spent that money ona Vincent Jackson or another stud WR opposite of Green that offense could be explosive. He could catapult them up the division VERY quickly.

Read a stat from 2011 that sickened me. In 2011 this team was in a "one possession game" starting the 4th quarter in 13 of their games. In those games their record was 3-10. THAT'S how close a margin they had from being bottom feeders and respectable. I have to think that major upgrades on offense will make them decent.

What was the one game we won, that wasn't a one possession game?

The defensive numbers were completely inflated last year. It's solid, but there are pieces missing. As of right now I wouldn't put it in the top 10.

The offense is bottom 3.
