No you don't (have to throw out the interceptions against the Ravens defense). He threw that up for grabs in a CLOSE 10-7 game. His stats against TENN were when they trailed by 20+ points and the defense was giving up the underneath routes (prevent defense).Dr. KnOiTaLL;1112398 wrote:Then you also have to throw out the interception against the Ravens defense, one of the top D's in the NFL and the pass was picked by Ed Reed, one of the best safeties in NFL history. All of you are simply arguing for your sides.
What it comes down to is the fact that McCoy has had ZERO weapons on offense. We don't know if he can play yet because the Browns were always behind so teams could send the house every other plays and man up on the outsides. Heck, we didn't even have a running game this year because Hillis was out all season, so tell me how any of this past season was a good representation of what McCoy can do. I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a QB or getting one through free agency, but I also think McCoy is a better QB than you are making him out to be. I mean, he's one of the winningest college QB's ever. College is not the NFL, but he also is a leader, smart, hard working, and has intangibles that make a good QB.
I think the Browns need to stop playing QB carousel, surround their current QB with weapons FOR ONCE, and then if he can't play, grab a QB next year.
Blah, blah, blah...quit swinging from his nuts. I threw a perfect game and three no hitters my sophomore year in high school but that doesn't mean I'm going to strike out Prince Fielder. As you said, college success doesn't predicate success at the pro level.
And, YES...he CAN be judged/evaluated with the weapons he had around him. Heckert said this himself. For as much as his receivers failed him, he left JUST as many, if not MORE, plays on the field with his checkdowns, inaccuracy, throwing balls on the receivers hip instead of hitting them in stride to maximize YAC, etc.
And the defenses were sending the house because THAT'S how you defend McCoy if you're a SMART D-Coordinator. You put 8 in the box and dare him to beat you over the top. HE WON'T. It doesn't matter if you get Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, etc, etc in here. They are a WASTE with McCoy at QB. He will settle for the "safe" checkdown.
Like I said before "what part of we (Browns front office) just offered THREE 1st rounders to replace your ass" do you NOT understand? If they were SOLD on McCoy they are not even talking about QB's.

Another interesting thing to think about:
The last winning season for the Browns was 2007. Derek Anderson threw 29 TD's 19 INT's while completing only 56% of his passes on 527 attempts! However, the Browns surrounded him with weapons in Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow, and Jamal Lewis (1300 rushing yards).
This past year, Colt McCoy threw 14 TD's and 11 INT's while completing 57.2% of his passes. The Browns top 2 RB's combined for 900 rushing yards, the top two receivers combined for only 100 receptions, 1200 yds, and 6 TDs.
Give him some weapons and see if he can play.

No. He doesn't "deserve" that right. He's a 3rd round ham & egger who HAD his chance and he FAILED to grasp it. He REGRESSED when given his dress rehearsal...NEXT!Dr. KnOiTaLL;1112434 wrote: Give him some weapons and see if he can play.

Like was previously stated, McCoy isn't going to be a Vick, Brady, or Peyton. He's not going to carry a team and win the game on his own. However, as was ALSO previously stated, the Browns led the league in dropped passes. The definition of dropped passes is a pass that SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT that was dropped. Even leading the league in dropped passes, he still completed a higher percentage than you idol, Derek Anderception. Would I have loved to get Robert Griffin III? Heck yes... but not at the price that it was going to cost. Too many good Quarterbacks have been found in the late rounds of the draft and too many first rounders have been busts to pay that kind of price. Your opinion means as much to the Browns front office as mine, we are both just arguing points.BR1986FB;1112427 wrote:No you don't (have to throw out the interceptions against the Ravens defense). They don't keep stats on "dropped interceptions" though, do they? McCoy had more lives than a cat in that aspect because I counted at least 5-6 that were dropped by defenders that would've made his stats look a lot worse. LOL...even defenders couldn't catch his wounded ducks.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1112448 wrote:Like was previously stated, McCoy isn't going to be a Vick, Brady, or Peyton. The bottom line is that there's NOT a snowball's chance in Hell that McCoy is going to lead a team to a championship. In order for that to happen he is going to have to have EVERYTHING "perfect" and the stars are going to have to align. By "perfect" I mean the 1985/2000 Bears/Ravens defense behind him...the 80's Redskins "Hogs" O-Line blocking for him. Jim Browns/Barry Sanders as his running back and Jerry Rice/Randy Moss (in his prime) catching his passes. And one of the top special teams units of all time.
There's NO margin for error with him like there is for a Brady. Rodgers, Manning. One of those guys screws up and they can get two TD's back in the blink of an eye if they need to. Even surrounded by weapons that's NOT Colt McCoy. He is a GAME MANAGER. We saw this earlier in the year with the 49er's. They rode it out as far as they could but even in the end Alex Smith, who is similar to McCoy, couldn't get it done and was beaten by the better QB (Eli Manning).
Again, the Browns aren't trying to trade up for Griffin if they are sold on McCoy. Holmgren knows that "rule #1 to building a championship team" (according to Bill Walsh) is "get your franchise QB."

Is Robert Griffin III going to lead the team to a championship with the current team? Heck no, and we couldn't build around him through the draft by trading our next two season's first round picks. He would struggle the next 3 years because he has no weapons around him, and then we would kick him to the curb like we have every other QB over the last few years.
I agree we need a franchise quarterback, and I agree McCoy isn't that, but I also believe that the price of Griffin was RIDICULOUS. You previously stated that Washington has better pieces in place to win NOW if they draft Griffin. The Browns are not. There is a ton of rebuilding to do. The way to do that is by stockpiling picks, not giving them all away.

Who was arguing about Griffin? I wanted him. The price was too high. That ship has sailed.
But they DO have to go in another direction at QB and they know it.

I'm really interested in foles in the 2nd round. I think he is flying under the radar and has a pretty strong arm. He could easily be a Andy dalton. I would rather have him than tannahill. I like weedon but it sucks he's 28.

BR is the absolute worst when it comes to the browns. I'm sorry, I used to think you were a reasonable fan. But after reading these for the past month, not attending a game, leaving the chatter cause people were "bothering you", and your intense and annoying hatred for mccoy, it's just too insane. I'm done arguing with you, just ship the outback coupon in the mail and i'll post the photo on here after the season.
I'm selling my tickets, becuase mccoy is invisible and can't throw the ball. This season is over already. The sky is falling. No RG3.

Why would I give you a free steak for a bet you WON'T win? You said McCoy will start the whole season AND lead the Browns to the 2012-early 2013 playoffs. You are the ONLY one dumb enough to believe this is possible. You're just fortunate I didn't ask for anything in return on this bet or you'd be the one paying. It was a SUCKER bet and I'm not about to take advantage of someone who is SO FUCKING STUPID.DeyDurkie5;1112529 wrote:I'm done arguing with you, just ship the outback coupon in the mail and i'll post the photo on here after the season.

Easy, roid rage... How many years did you play quarterback, anyways? You're obviously an expert on the position, so I'm just curious where you have gained all of your superior knowledge and insight? My guess is that you were the 2nd stringer your entire career... holding the clip board and sending in signals, always awaiting your opportunity to shine. Sorry that it never came to fruition, but there will be brighter days ahead.BR1986FB;1112546 wrote:Why would I give you a free steak for a bet you WON'T win? Holmgren and Heckert are pretty intelligent guys. I'm sure they have a plan in place to do their best to rebuild the franchise. They made it apparent last season that this is their goal, or they could've drafted one of the most talented college WR's to come out of the draft in recent years (Julio Jones). I appreciate your activity on the OC, but there is no reason to be bashing other people because they disagree with your shortsighted opinion.

I'm SO confident that McCoy will NOT be the QB throughout the year and will NOT lead them to the playoffs that IF they DO make the playoffs and McCoy is the starting QB throughout the year (not the starter at the end of the year after the REAL/LEGIT starter goes down....McCoy has to play the WHOLE season as the starter) I will send you a $50 gift certificate for Outback Steakhouse (or one of those steak joints) and you own me NOTHING.
Win, win for you...you either get a steak dinner OR you get to see a REAL/LEGIT NFL QB (NOT named McCoy) lead the Browns.

As far as McCoy, YOU can't be THAT stupid too, could you? Blah, blah, blah as much as you want about my "quarterback evaluating skills" (says the guy with the username "knowitall" LOL) but who was it who offered MULTIPLE draft picks to move up to #2 only to get outbid? In case you're too STUPID to realize it, it wasn't me. It was those "intelligent guys" Holmgren & Heckert. As for McCoy, have I not said I would be open to an upgrade several times? I would have absolutely been open to RG3, as I said, who wouldn't be for the right price? So Holgrem and Heckert did their due diligence and inquired. They were willing to part with a couple picks, but when the cost became outrageous, they bowed out. You're just a bitter Browns fan and want the sexy quarterback and you want it right now. I bet you were hounding for Brady Quinn a few years back too... and that one turned out great. I will say it one more time so, and I will use small words and hopefully with enough emphasis that you can understand: the Browns would improve from a QB upgrade. However, I'm not sure why you're even arguing now because we have no change at RG3. I wouldn't be opposed to Weeden at 37, even, but 22 is too high for a QB with no experience that should already be in his prime. The fact that you resort to name-calling and bullying to try to corner others further solidifies the fact that you have very little knowledge or understanding of the QB position and that you were more than likely a lineman, if you even played at all. I'm sure we're all fine if you keep chucking insults at others in order to make yourself feel good, because that proves the point that you really don't have any relevant information to share at all. You're just a bitter Browns "fan" who has no clue how to manage your anger, let alone a football organization. They may not prefer to have McCoy as their quarterback, but with limited options now, it looks like McCoy is the guy for this year.

I'm done with this, for now, you'll see. They aren't going to move forward with McCoy this year unless they are stuck with him and no other options.
