It's because Meyer misses all those extra practices under HIS system and with young players. It's a time when the lightbulb goes on for a lot of young players who have struggled to adapt to college ball. Too bad the NCAA couldn't have been honest with OSU and told them a ban was coming, so they could go ahead and take it this year. This delay and letting OSU think it wasn't going to get a ban was all deliberate, I'm sure. They were running scared from the media hype and felt they had to do more than they've ever done against any other school in the past facing the same allegations.
Shameful.

LOL, you say that like its a fact. It would have made sense to punish the players that, you know, actually committed the violations. There is very little value in this bowl game as a 6-6 team. The sec, besides the top 3 teams, were worse than the big ten this year. SOS is just an idiot, and his florida fans are the biggest bangwagoners. Actually, the way I understand it, you don't have to go to a bowl to get these extra practices, you just have to be bowl eligible. This is the only thing I am really pissed about. The NCAA could have come out with the ban earlier, so OSU could have taken the ban THIS year. I truly believe, after the hiring of Meyer, they deliverately waited to this point. Pretty pitiful. Other than that, OSU got what they deserved. The situation was handled poorly from the beginning. OSU trusted that Gene Smith knew what he was talking about. And now this. Smith needs to step down and I'd be suprised if that doesn't happen within a week or sooner. But if they're ruled ineligible by the NCAA, wouldn't that mean that they wouldn't get the 15 practices? Because no matter how many they win, they're not eligible. Same number of practices as spring ball I think. 15 extra practices is huge, especially with what will still be a young team.
