It would be interesting to know what affect the hiring of Urban Meyer, and all these new recruits had. I imagine the NCAA wasn't too happy that OSU was back on the upswing after just one down year.

Tressel also gets 5-year show cause FWIW. No coaching for him anytime soon.

Terrible punishments. I hope Ohio State never self reports ever again.

He's going to the Colt's in a higher capacity IMO. In his interview with Bob Connors he just kept talking about the Colt's and getting better and blah blah blahchicago510;1021991 wrote:Tressel also gets 5-year show cause FWIW. No coaching for him anytime soon.

We fucked up MULTIPLE times and made some iffy comments about the NCAA throughout the process. We got what we deserved. Ohio State isn't well liked outside of Ohio. Is the NCAA a part of that big group? Hell, I don't know; nor do I care. Let this be a lesson-- do things the right way or do things the wrong way and get better at it. Had Ohio State not played the Tat 5 in the bowl game, gave a stipulation for them to come back linked to the bowl game, made multiple comments that the NCAA could have perceived as insulting, had multiple players fuck up under a microscope, give themselves a relatively low slap on the wrist, hire the best coach in football and make it look like this year didn't even make them skip a beat... then maybe we might be fighting for a BCS game next year. Just sayin'...

South Carolina and Miami both have violations for more $ than OSU, their punishment better be comperable.LJ;1021992 wrote:This too. They just put on a 4 month deception of one of their "own". What the fuck else can ya do? know what I mean

Lost in all of this is Pryor's and Tressel's NFL ban, which has never happened until this incident. What a joke.

Gene Smith needs to go. This is a failure of an AD, I don't care how influential he is.

the NCAA was not out to punish the 6-6 Luke Fickell coached team. Just keep that in mind. A self imposed this year would have done nothingdat dude;1022011 wrote:Should have self-imposed. Smh

Man, I really pissed off some sports gods this year:
Mets: "Nope, we don't need Jose Reyes. I think Jon Rauch will be our key target this offseason."
Fantasy Football: "As the top seed, allow these guys to lay eggs in the semis: Eli Manning, Adrian Peterson and Victor Cruz."
Nets: "Nice, we are getting Dwight Howard! ... wait, scratch that."
Buckeyes: "Sure, we'll take a Gator Bowl bid! No chance for a bowl ban next season, so let's do this!"

Possibly. Rumor going around is that 1 member of the COI spoke up for a bowl ban when they were deciding on final sanctions. Something he never spoke up for. Basically it gave a bowl ban a majority and they did it.se-alum;1022031 wrote:I think they would've if it was a BCS bowl and not a Gator Bowl.

Yeah...and people seem to forget that OSU ran into the same types of issues during and after the initial investigation. I don't think the NCAA purpoely held out on the bowl ban; they just added the failure to monitor in early November. Certainly the additional issues that came up during the season prolonged the process. I'm still surprised, but thank the guys who couldnt keep their hands out the cookie jar while they were awaiting the original ruling.jpake1;1021998 wrote:We ****ed up MULTIPLE times

Actually, what the real joke here is, ND and OSU have the exact same chance of winning a BCS bowl game next year. LOLkaren lotz;1022051 wrote:link to your source on this? Are you joking?
