Disagree. It got coverage, but not near what OSU is getting. Don't recall Petey on the cover of SI either. And, USC wasn't just football, it was basketball as well. It was in FACT a much, much larger scale situation than OSU. And involved agents, multi million dollar home, runners, large amounts of money, coaches who knew what was going on, and coaches directly involved. Not condoning a damn thing OSU did, they got what they deserved. But the OSU situation paled in comparison USC.

It was because people expected it out of USC. That story didn't surprise anyone. But OSU was supposed to be different. They were clean. So when news broke that OSU had violated rules, and there was a cover up...it automatically became more salacious. If OSU had been thought of as a dirty program with a dirty coach, nobody would have cared.

I think that is accurate ^^^^. OSU has always prided itself as being a 'clean' school, and will clean up the mess even to its own short term detriment. I still think the problem stems from a mistake(s) in judgement from one or two people rather than institutional failure as a whole. I think it is also an indictment of the continuing morass of NCAA regulations and restrictions that make it darn near impossible for even well meaning institutions to stay in full compliance with. As the number of 'clean' institutions approaches zero, it has become a dog and pony show to see what dirt can be dug up on who...the schools who actually try to be compliant being the easiest marks.
There's big money in airing the dirty laundry.

All I was saying is that USC got the coverage too. Many people were complaining about the coverage the day or the day after it was announced. It has been a week and no one cares. The only reason i could see them getting more would be because the NBA had not started yet and there was literately nothing to talk about.

There's truth to that. They have got hours to fill. Timing may have had a lot to do with it.
In any case, USC 'should' have been a bigger story.

USC shouldn't have been punished or a story at all. The only reason they were at all is because of the NCAA and its 400+ page rule book and draconian punishments, right?

$300,000+>>>>>$9000. C'mon lotz. You know better....and more than that you know that I think OSU should have been punished too, but that the punishment should be commensurate with the violation.
