Had a good meeting with my manager on Wednesday. He’s been talking with our CEO about me and the other guy (who hasn’t gone in once) and he thinks we’re going to have a little more flexibility to set our schedules than it seemed. I worked from Newark this week so I’ve still only gone in once since the New Year. 

I was all set to put in my two weeks on Tuesday but I think I might be good for a bit longer. I’m going in on Tuesday because the ticket I’m working on makes sense for being in the office to meet with my manager. But I’m not planning on going in any other day. 

Basically I think we called his bluff and he realized keeping us is more important than seeing us every day. 

Had an interview today, honestly not sure how it actually went. It was a one on one conversation with the head of product. Seemed like a good talk, but I definitely didn't like the answer I gave to one of the questions. It was hard to tell exactly what the company does from their website, so I was a little iffy going into the interview, but it was actually pretty interesting. I'll take the second interview if they offer it, it would be with a panel of like 4 people. He never used the word "if...we have a second interview", he said "the next interview will be..." so hopefully that's a good sign.

The current job is a lot better now that the expectation that we're in the office every day has kinda just vanished. In the past two weeks I've gone in both Tuesdays, and last Thursday in the early afternoon to join a happy hour after work. If the interview process fizzles out I won't actively look for another job as long as the current arrangement continues to work for everyone.

Ended up turning down the second interview at the place mentioned above. 

Went through another period of shit where I wanted to leave and connected with a recruited for another job. Interviewed 3 times (luckily just 30 minute general discussions with a few people) and in the end they went in another direction. They liked me but they also suffered from a few issues I disliked about my current job so they were afraid I wouldn't be happy there either.

For whatever reason that caused my mindset about my current company to shift and I am as happy as I've been since I've been here (just over 10 months now). I guess it finally clicked on what I want the next step in my career to be and I'm pretty sure I can make it happen at my current gig. We'll see how the next couple months go, but I'm optimistic I can make this work a lot longer.

5 or 6 years left….many many unnecessary and irritating things going on. I’ve been happier but still love the kids

Voluntarily quit my job last November. Was head of sales at a small manufacturer. Had a good department and good product. But owner was second generation who has a toxic personality and is in over her head. Finally had enough and did what I have advised people against all my life: quit with no job waiting.

Flash forward to January and I was hired as GM for another small manufacturer owned by a family in Europe. Three weeks in, I get a bomb dropped on me when I learn that the European parent company was having the US subsidiary borrow money under the subsidiary’s signature and then sending the funds to Europe - a big no no. I ended up leaving there when they wanted my to sign off on more borrowing.

So I decided I needed to slow things down. I spent the last several months helping with a very difficult situation as the result of my mother-in-law’s health. That is now resolved, but I’m really glad I was available to help. Back looking again and doing some consulting side work for the $. 

I wouldn’t have left that first job 10-20 years ago because I couldn’t have afforded it. I can’t go forever not working full-time, but our finances are way different and therefore I could step away from a circumstance that was going to affect my mental health negatively.  

Instead of looking for a payday now, I want a role with good people that I can excel in, but that I don’t have to live inside of 24/7. I don’t much care for titles anymore and I would take less pay for personal satisfaction and fulfillment. That toxic owner I worked for did me a huge favor by clearly showing me what is most important in my professional life.

I'm at the place where a higher pay would mean doing a completely different job that I have zero interest in. And more school. So that's a no.

But I'm satisfied with what I do. And since the basis of what I do is in an ER I have the benefit of an always changing (and challenging) landscape. And since my hospital has virtually stopped contracting traveling nurses, the ER had settled into being a closely connected community again. It's been fun watching newbie techs gradually passing their boards and becoming skilled RNs. 

Hospital life is so different haha!

Going swimmingly lately. Went through a bit of restructuring and changed bosses. It's much more in line with my previous role. I was casually looking to move elsewhere but I'll stay put for now.

I still have to travel more than I'd like, but it's manageable and I'll deal with it as long as I stay remote.

Was unhappy at my job., luckily they elimated my position in April. Been living on the Severance  Package ever since. Couldn't be more Happier !!

It’s ok.

Talked with STRS…can retire in March of 2028 but will go to May of 2030 as it will nicely increase my retirement pay

Things are going well for me, I just hit 18 months on the job  a couple weeks ago. Never would have thought I'd still be here at this point, but I'm glad I am.
