That metric mile 1500 holy shit
What a last 100 meters. Gold and bronze.

Thought Hocker accidentally boxed himself in coming into the last 100m but he recovered nicely to win
Silver for the US in hammer.
Annette Echikunwoke is from central Ohio and went to UC.
Hell yeah.

That's what I thought. Looked like he lost his stride when Norway was there to cut him off, but Norway crept inside just a bit and he just blasted through the hole he was given. For a bit, I though it might have ended up 1-2, as British guy seemed to either be tiring or eased up across the line, while USA #2 was coming on strong, but British was able to hold on.
Gabby Thomas. Wow, blew them away.
Bronze for Brown too. Great day for team USA on the track
posted by friendfromlowryThe pole vault finish was dope.
I have to avoid social media all day until I get a chance to catch up on it late at night.
The women’s 3x3 bball ended up getting bronze after the rocky start. Haley Van Lith said afterwards Kobe would have been proud of their result. I disagree.
Big day of basketball on Tuesday.
It’s so damn hard.
I won’t post my thoughts….but watch tonight man. Wiw

And Ironton girl McKenzie Long 7th
Thomas did what was expected, but that was impressive. The 1500M was one of the most electric finished to a race not named 100m I have seen in awhile. USA/Germany in extra time was drama, and Naher with an unreal save that wont get talked about as much as it should.

Help me out. The guy on Columbus NBC 4 referred to Long as from Pickerington and you're saying Ironton.
I IS CONFUSE-ED!

She born and raised in Ironton Ohio and was state junior high champ for Ironton in 8th grade and dad thought it best to go north. She was at Hamilton Township for 9th and 10th grade and went to Pickerington her junior and senior year. Abby Steiner from Dublin always kept her from a state title.
Even her intro to the 200m on the tv screen said Ironton Ohio
Thanks, thought something like that would be the case, but wasn't familiar with her, so I wasn't sure.posted by Ironman92

USA - Poland Men's Volleyball in the 5th. Slipping away from USA, though. They had Poland down and out in the 4th...
Man if you have avoided results….watch the 400m tonight
I’ve never seen anyone do that before
Steeplechase was great
The volleyball was disappointing. Think they had a 16-14 lead in the fourth match leading 2-1 and end up losing that game and the next.
That 400m was something else. Anytime a coach wants to inspire an athlete just pull up the clip of Hall forcing himself to win and looking dead the final 100m.
Girma from Ethiopia took a nasty fall in the steeplechase.
How about the men’s distance team? Fisher takes bronze in the 10K, Hocker and Nuguse go gold and bronze in 1500, Rooks goes silver in steeple. The 5000m and 800m conclude on Saturday.
Lyles should be competing in the 200m final around 2:30 this afternoon? And then the 400m woman’s hurdles that Ironman has mentioned between SML and Bol will be 3:25.

Yes. Lyles 2:30est in 200m, McLaughlin 3:25est in 400m hurdles (likely WR coming), plus Holloway in the 110m hurdles (and might set a WR) at 3:45est.
posted by friendfromlowryI think it was in the 4th set, when the USA won a point (incorrectly) so play was stopped -- but they had a free ball and all momentum. It wouldve put them up 4 I think (around 14-10 maybe). But the replay showed the ball hit a foot, not ground, so Poland won challenge and it was replayed. Poland won and cut it to 2. That was the game changer. The volleyball was disappointing. Think they had a 16-14 lead in the fourth match leading 2-1 and end up losing that game and the next.

Can’t wait
Sydney might crack 50….she’s seen that mixed 4x400. She’s going to have a nice lead after 200.
Sydney 50.09
Bol 50.66
That 200 thought I have mixed thoughts. Lyles is the fastest but what lane did he get? I’m not sure he’s winning unless he’s 5-9
Lyles 19.59
Kenny 19.69
Tebogo 19.77
Knighton 19.81
But Lyles might go 19.20 or might go 19.80
Knighton is the wildcard but not enough races under his belt this year, would love to see him go low and win it.
Kenny did everything but beat Lyles at the trials. Love his story.
Holloway 12.96
Going to be quite the away game environment for USA ball if they play France on Saturday
Only thing between men’s bball team and gold medal is Jokic this afternoon and then Wemby on Saturday in France.

Could be replay of 21 Tokoyo final.
Mild upset there on the track
Also, outside of volleyball, not a great medal or successful day for the US.
Well that 400m hurdles makes up for it today. Wow.
Long jump too.
