And they will have Hand under control for a few more years when Allen & Miller walk this offseason.

Miller's falling apart so I'm not sure I'd try to re-sign him. Would be interesting to see if Allen would accept the setup role but I think they're both gone...Miller because of his injury issues and Allen because he'll want too much.

Love the trade. Control and cheap. Meijia was OK but didn't want to play OF.

Quick question for those that follow the Tribe and MLB closer than I do. Remember back in 2016, Tribe tried to trade for some bitch boy catcher who QQ'd and then got his ass sent home in R1 of the playoffs? First off, LOL. Second, that would have been another catcher at a position the Tribe are deep in, correct? What did we initially give up to get that fuckboi, and have those pieces turned into anything for the Tribe? IE was it a blessing in deguise?

Hand is a nice get for the tribe. Needed bullpen help bad and they got it. Hopefully Miller is healthy for playoff run.

Lucroy. I had to look it up, the 4 pieces would have been Meijia (I knew that one), Greg Allen - who is on mlb roster, Shawn Armstrong - (traded for cash), and some shortstop I've never heard of. We got these two relievers, and he's still a bitch boi, so I don't know if it is a blessing but it is what it is. Not hitting better than Gomes.

Well I'm glad we didn't end up getting Lucry and his .241 BA. He can GFH.

Tough to say. Lucroy could’ve been the difference for them that year. But, he is a bitch and if Hand helps us win this year, it’s a win (as we needed Mejia to acquire him).

It also sounds like they aren’t done either. Could go after some OF or possibly beltre

There was some talk about Lucroy on the broadcasts of the last series with Oakland.

So Crimson streak: you heard that, too, about Meijia refusing to play OF?

Allen was sent to Columbus today

I was under the impression that since the LuCry trade failed, they went in on Andrew Miller, even thou different prospects traded.

They had both. Lucroy didn’t refuse until Miller trade was announced I don’t think. I remember about a day where I was pumped we had made bithbtrades.

It is definitely true. He is quoted. Tito basically called him out saying he has a path to the bigs and he refuses to take it.

Good riddance, then.

BTW, I am very happy with the additions today.

This is Tito about a month ago...

I understand that. We’re trying to tell him, ‘Hey, we think you’re a good catcher, but if you can do this, you might get to the big leagues quicker. Until a kid is sold on it. ... I’m not sure (if it’s a good idea to push him).
We wanted to reinforce that this is by no means an indictment on his catching. If anything, we were really pleased with his progression. We just told him ‘Look, we have Perez and Gomes. Do the math.’ He’s such an advanced hitter that if he’s able to play another position, and then there’s an injury or something, he could find himself not only in the big leagues but playing.

From that same group of quotes about Mejia’s apparent reluctance to play in the outfield, Francona seems to imply that it was Mejia, not the Indians, who put a stop on him playing third base.

I don’t know how excited he was to play third base. If you want to be a full-time catcher, we’ll back you 100 percent, but when he laid it out for him there, he was like ‘No, I need to do this.’

They addressed a need and it sounds like Mieja was becoming a problem and you still have a decent prospect at catcher in Haase.

Now picking up an outfielder would be a good move as well.

Did anyone listen to this podcast by Bauer? Makes me like him even more. Not sure if I'm late on this.

Definitely one of my favorite characters....he is the American pitching version of Joey Votto.

He’s an animal that I won’t bet against.
