Home teams went 4-0 with average margin of victory 20 points. Southern teams traveling north did even worse.

Man, did Herbstreit have a burr in his ass about Ohio State this week.  First he called out Day and Kelly for to contacting him to congratulate him on his son accepting a scholarship that UM.  Then Saturday he spends the first quarter going on about how many Tennessee fans came to the Shoe.  Then he spends the fourth quarter bashing Ohio State fans, saying a bunch of them are lunatic fringe, blah, blah, blah (same stuff he’s been repeating for 25 years).

Dude, we get it - you’re not a homer.  You sound like a bitter old man though.

Why can’t it be that conference champs get an automatic bids, but not an automatic bye at least?

Oregon Vs Ohio St is apparently equal to Penn St vs Boise St

I was at the game, but caught what he said today. There was a ton of Tennesse fans in the Shoe. Probably 30%, which is an insane for a fanbase as proud as Ohio St to allow Tenn that many folks in. I was pissed off seeing that much orange, and seems like Ohio State was as well.

I do agree with Herbie on the very vocal part of the fanbase that wants Day fired. It's so stupid. The gameday piece of the fans that said even if they win the national title, with a loss to Mich, it is an asterisk season, is a loser and a joke.

As an alum, I can't stand most of the fanbase as they are fairweather, bitchy, and think the world revolves around the Michigan game. It did in the past, but not now.

Ohio State doesn't need to treat the Michigan game as the main goal in the season...it's just the most important regular season game. But, the new standard is how far they make it in the playoff and comparing themselves to Georgia, Texas, Oregon, etc. Titles mean more than beating Mich.

The fire Day crowd was so stupid and they deserve every bit of ripping by Herbie.

Last night was awesome and one of the best games I have been at at the Shoe. The SEC chants were great and the OSU PA playing rocky top, followed by hey hey goodbye at the end was chefs kiss.

BTW, I love Ohio State's chances against Oregon in a rematch.

Yes. That should happen.

There’s a part of every fanbase that’s like this.  Having lived in Alabama for six years, I can attest to the insanity of some Alabama and Auburn fans.

That said, Herbstreit has spent an inordinate amount of time over many years of making sure to emphasize how big the Ohio State “lunatic fringe” is according to him.  He delivers it as an authority on the subject.  When he does an Alabama blowout or a Texas blowout or a Georgia blowout, he does not spend the entirety of the fourth quarter disparaging the school’s fanbase by giving airtime to the vocal minority of nuts - who are just as present there as they are here.

BTW, Herbstreit had no problem offering his unsolicited butt hurt that Day didn’t personally congratulate him for his son’s accepting a UM offer.  Why he’d expect that, I have no idea.  But it’s okay for him to be critical, just no one else.

There were a lot of Tennessee fans there.  But it was a home crowd for sure.

First off, when I think "lunatic fringe" for a portion of a fanbase, I think of the people who stalk players/coaches on social media and start throwing around slurs and threats because the game didn't turn out the way they wanted. Not people who advocated for a coaching change after the team laid an egg and embarrassed themselves against their rival at home in a season in which said rival was mediocre as hell. I might not agree with the thought of firing Day (huge buy-out, not like there are tons of superior guys that can be auto-plugged in to the job, potential HUGE losses in transfer portal to go along with all the guys that will be lost due to graduating/going into the draft), but having that opinion isn't "lunatic fringe". A lot more bad than good likely to happen, at least in the short term. So, Herbie was being a bitch acting like wanting a coaching change makes one a lunatic fringe person.

I was more annoyed at him and ESecPN and their rhetoric that makes me really happy they aren't the ones picking the at-large teams because if they were, we'd have 7 SEC teams, three other conference champions, Notre Dame and Boise (at least until they eliminated the whole "small conferences get a team" thing to get an eighth SEC team in).

Indiana gets whipped by Notre Dame, Herbie is super vocal about how they're a fraud that shouldn't have gotten in and the committee fucked up. Tennessee gets whipped even worse by Ohio State and him and Fowler are bending over backwards to say the loss shouldn't change how their season is viewed and they just ran into a very good team. Just comical. Dude should just focus on changing Corso's diapers and save the commentary for media types who actually try to occasionally pretend to have takes not based on their network's conference affiliation.

This Herbie nonsense is hilarious. Ever since he got ran out of town he gets off to stirring the pot.

There are announcers that annoy me but national announcers never upset me.

Sometimes they throw out their opinions and sometimes I agree and sometimes I don’t.

Herbstreit? I was happy AF Ohio St was playing lights out….Herbstreit could’ve been directly telling me to fuck off the 2nd half and I wouldn’t have cared

It didn’t inhibit my enjoyment of the game, I just don’t understand why he needs to keep playing the broken record over and over.

Announcers offer are very repetitive.

I will agree that Herbie isn’t as likable as he used to be, but IMO still very good and likable on the air.

Why doesn’t anybody say the reason Ohio State hasn’t beat Michigan in four years?

It’s obviously Joe Biden‘s fault. They haven’t beat them sconce he’s seen in office
