Miracle of Richfield was amazing. That was right about the time I really started getting into sports (7-8 years old). Remember hiding under the covers, after bedtime, listening to Bingo, Chones, Foots Walker, Austin, Campy, etc on the old transistor radio. If Chones doesn't break his foot, I think they could've won it all.

Yeah, Bingo and Chones all time favorites, too. I might revise my list on that other thread. I really like World B. also. Chones’ broken foot did them in, for sure. Nate had to step in instead of being one of the best big subs off the bench of all time.

Is it just me or when Ted Stepien was involved, and did that stupid softball drop from Terminal Tower, did it remind you of the Turkey Drop, with Les Nessman, on WKRP in Cincinnati?

I have fond memories of Pete Franklin calling him "Too Stupid" and refusing to call him by name.

I didn’t watch WKRP back in the day. Now Pete Franklin.....I listened to him all the time!

All of it. He clearly isn't racist, so the backlash is stupid, and he probably DID misspeak. Someone leaked it on purpose. Are there not white people on the team?

I've been called worse by a coach and have heard worse.  Of course in 2020 this is a story.

More so the public backlash.

I agree that he should probably be fired because the players didn't like him before this but not for using "thugs."

The term "thug" has been around forever but now it supposedly only has a racist connotation?

Hockey players (a mostly Caucasian sport) have been "goons" and "thugs" since the 70's/80's and likely before. Back when the Cavs had Price, Daugherty, Hot Rod, etc, Bill Laimbeer (white guy) of the Pistons was known as one of the biggest thugs in the league but now it's racist to be called a thug or to have an NBA team have an "owner." Bunch of triggered bitches.

I'm sure the social media "justice warriors", likely lead by Lebron James, will make sure some 66 year old coach who slipped up and used thug instead of slug (which makes a helluva lot more sense) will lose his job over this. If anyone knew the history of the Cavs, they'd know he wasn't referring to them as thugs because the Cavs are THE softest bunch in NBA history (throughout their existence).

I just can't wait for woke Kerr to chime in.

He didn’t misspeak. Come on. At best, he said slug but slurred/didn’t annunciate and everyone thought he said thug. There is no way you say thug when you mean slow and lethargic/slug.
