Better player than Ogunjobi and pretty sure they got him for $1 million less than Cincy paid for Larry O.

At this point the 1st round pick has to be an EDGE.
Browns addressing some needs in the off season!!
Browns had Clowney in for a visit. Left without a contract. I'm "meh" on this unless it's a one year, incentive laden prove it deal. Seems like the guy have been living off the reputation of the hit he had on the Michigan kid in college and hasn't done much since.
Seems his best stretch was opposite Watt. So, I’d assume he would be pretty solid for Browns opposite of Myles. That said, I’d prefer to go through the draft unless it’s a cheap 1 year
Clowney coming in for a second visit tomorrow. It's believed they will come to agreement on a deal.
Now he's flying in Tuesday night and meeting with them Wednesday.
Clowney signed to a 1 year deal. Worth up to $10m with incentives.
Concerns that Sheldon Richardson will need to restructure his contract as a result.

Hearing he may get released if he doesn't restructure.
I had mentioned before that I wasn't a huge fan of throwing a lot of money at Clowney but I'm fine with this deal.
This sets them up in the drivers seat to take the BPA at 26, if they stay put. At this point, I'd have no issue if they took a WR, DE, CB, S or DT at the position. The only positions that would cause me to pause would be QB, TE or OL at that spot. I expect OL depth in later rounds and possibly a developmental TE unless Pitts plummeted to 26 LOL.
I am of the nature you can never have enough OL. So, if the best player is an OL who has fallen, go for it. We saw how much worse we were with the injuries to end the year.
I hope they go DB. Need everything we can get if playing 3 safeties. But if someone falls they like I’m cool too. If you’re subscribed to the athletic my buddies draft guide dropped last week and it’s massive. Also did a full 7 round mock draft this week. Go read!

Having played & coached OL, I'm an OL guy through and through but unless it's a center to replace Tretter, I want a guy who is going to be a day 1 starter at that spot.....unless someone like Penei Sewell freefalls (unlikely).
Sheldon Richardson being cut is a little puzzling
DT suddenly could be the pick at RD1.

Not a ton of 1st and 2nd round DTs projected. Think they’d rather wait until 2nd or 3rd to get a guy. Probably also depends on who is still there at 26.

I just hope it's not Barmore.
I'd have to think they asked Richardson to restructure and he passed. The going rate for a DT in this free agency is about $6-7 million, which would be fair for him. He was way overpaid at $13 million. I think only Landry & OBJ were paid higher on the team.

Agreed. Ha my buddy has Barmore as his first DT taken. If anybody wants his draft guide from The Athletic PM me. He has Browns taking a DB, but that was before this move.
Hearing several potential reasons for this Richardson release, from the obvious (overpaid) to it freeing money up for potential Teller/Chubb extensions to the fact they just weren't getting the production for the money (analytics/overpaid again).
Plus, the expected rotation (on passing downs) would've been Garrett-Clowney-Richardson-Malik Jackson which would've left limited reps for Takk McKinley.
Have also heard the possibility of bringing back Richardson on a cheaper deal if he tests the market.
