Who has heard of this wild potty training method?

Holy fuck, this is insane. I'm staying with my sister currently. She has a two year old boy.

It kicked off today at 7am with a diaper trashing ceremony.

I'm getting the fuck out of here as soon as work is over.

We tried it, didn’t work out too great but that was probably our fault. But within the next couple of weeks she was good.  Ha good call on getting out of the house. I could see it being crazier with a boy.

What is it? They’re just naked the entire weekend?

Little kids naked? Better keep CC away from there!

In short:

Naked for the weekend. Mini shitter in plain sight and constant observation. When the time comes place him on the pot, encourage him to go.

You then transition to clothes, but going commando. Then pull ups, then regular undies. Aiming to have it done and over in a week.

It's nuts, but seems to be effective. I'm learning a lot!

I guess it just conditions them quickly that shitting pants = bad, potty = good. My sisters colleague did it with twin girls in 4 days.

Never tried that method with any of our 3 kids (19, 17, and 14 YO boys now) because my wife and I thought it was a dumb idea.

I didn't even know it was a thing, nor do I know the correct way to go about this. lol

I do have a friend with a 4 year old who still isn't potty trained. That would be terrible.

Sounds like what happens when you are 80 also

My wife wants to do this with our son. He just doesn’t give a shit about potty training so she’s ready to go “trial by fire” on it.

Do they still wear diapers at night though? That seems like it’d be hard go without.

Yea, that would be awful, and diapers ain't cheap. Not to mention daycares and schools wouldn't move them up bc they don't want to change diapers when the rest of the class uses the bathroom.

Yea, my little over 3 year old still uses them at night, bc we lock the bathroom door attached, plus she isn't ready. We may try soon though, but leaving the bathroom unlocked could lead to all sorts of other issues with her messing with the water, etc.

I’ve only had 2 kids and it just seems ridiculous. Kids have been potty training forever....I see no need for this.

I think it’s a sign of the times and a way to flat out get it done quickly.

By 3 you gotta be trained or you can’t “graduate to the next room.”

It’s definitely this. Luckily the 2nd children seem to figure it out sooner watching the first. Still a whole thing.

We haven’t started that yet, son just turned two. But our friends sister says fuck-off to diapers and has had all 4 kids done by 1.5 yrs old and in a weekend. So, it works.

It honestly isn’t a bad strategy. We’ve had our son who will be three in September just be naked except for a shirt and kept a potty chair where he likes to hang out. We haven’t done it for a weekend straight, but maybe several hours here or there. He seems to get the concept. I won’t miss buying diapers. Or the pediasure drinks he still likes.

3? It’s been 15 years since my son and 23 since my daughter but I just can’t remember being much of any problem at 2....early 2.

My sisters twin boys were both 3 but she never gave the effort of consistency and it took to nearly age 4. I agreed with virtually nothing she did.

Boys are apparently closer to 3 for real success. Girls you can get away with almost immediately after age 2.

While we are at....please, for the love of mankind....teach your kid to tie their shoes before they start school. I’ll guess 10% of kids starting kindergarten can tie their shoes. When I began teaching 20+ years ago I’d guess it over 50%

I’ll say this. You don’t realize how much your kid pisses until you’re cleaning their damn potty chair every 15 minutes.
