Finally got the monkey off my back and hit two par 4 GIRs today. Both inside 6 feet. Missed both birdies by an inch. :|

Holy shit. This is from our country club (from which our membership expires on Monday):

One of my members, Peter Canton (a very accurate 18.7 handicap), recorded his second hole in one on hole 5 at Ivy Hills CC a couple of weeks ago, his first was last year on the same hole. Today he aced that very same hole around 10:30 am this morning during the Senior League, he then came back out this afternoon for a makeup match for our men’s Ivy League and aced the same hole again around 5:40. I’ve witnessed countless hole in one’s in my career and I’ve played with several members during their special moments; I’ve even seen two different holes in one while playing with the same foursome over the course of 18 holes but I have never seen someone get two in one day let alone on the same hole! I strongly encouraged Peter to go buy a lottery ticket as today may be his big day!

88 the other day. My previous best was a 96. Amazing what can happen when you improve your short game and eliminate the 3 putts (and sometimes 4 lol). Kept my drives mostly straight too - that certainly helps.

Drive for show, putt for dough.

The short game is the key to scoring well.

The most difficult thing when golfing alone has got to be when you hit a shot and know that it stayed inbounds and you should be able to track it down, and you cannot find it - super frustrating.

I have this mental problem of not wanting to look at a bad shot. Therefore leading to having no clue where the ball is lol.

Throwing out a question everyone following this thread can answer. What clubs are in your bag right now? Are you happy with the setup or will you be making any changes soon?

Callaway Rogue driver
Tour Edge Exotics CBx 3 wood
Maltby KE4 FDI 2 iron
Maltby KE4 TC 3 hybrid
Ben Hogan PTx Pro PW-5i
Ben Hogan Equalizer 50º/54º/58º wedges
Odyssey EXO Marxman putter

I have a gap between my 7i and 3 hybrid of clubs I don't hit very well. I am planning on getting a more forgiving 6i and 5i, as well as adding a 4 hybrid. I have the Ping Crossover 2i that I won recently that hasn't made it in the bag yet. I might try trading that for a 4 hybrid if I'm unable to play it well enough.

Callaway Mavrik 9*

Callaway Epic Flash 3 wood

TM m1 4 hybrid

Mizuno JPX919 Hot Metal Pro 4-PW

Cleveland RTX 4 Raw 52, 56, 60

I alternate putters...

Currently using Odyssey Exo Stroke Lab 7 Mini

Odyssey Pro Type Tour 3 putter is my “backup” right now. But it’s really my gamer, I just throw the 7 mini in when I’m not making anything.

I’m happy with everything. I’m looking to add another driving iron. I’ve had 2 different ones in the past. I had a regular 2 iron and a GAPR. I’m leaning toward the new SIM UDI from TM. But the $250 price tag is a little much for me right now.

And ProV1X balls. But I have recently been playing the Mizuno RB Tour X. I like them a lot, except they cut and mark up fairly easy compared to the ProV.

Nice bag. The Mavrik might be my next driver if I can get a decent deal from Callaway Pre-Owned this fall/winter.

Have you hit the ping crossover at all? That notch on the bottom looks like weird to me.

Only a few times. The notch is fine, you don’t notice it while using the club.

It looks like every Ping iron has that notch.

I use an old set of the Adams Idea A3OS irons 6-PW. Hybrids 3-5. Adams gap wedge that I picked up for $5. TaylorMade Burner driver.

Clubs are over 10 years old, maybe closer to 12-13 years but they still get the job done. Will be looking to upgrade soon though.

Unbelievable finish at the BMW.

DJ makes a 40 foot, downhill, double breaker to tie Rahm on 18. Then Rahm makes a 60 footer in the playoff to win. Ridiculous.

about a month ago. i was putting for eagle on a par 5 (like a 90 foot putt, but still putting), turned in an 8. If that isn't the epitome of love/hate relationship with this game i don't know what is.

Such a stupid, wonderful game isn’t it?

Played Seven Bridges in Chicagoland area Saturday. Tough freaking course (72.5/139). Couldnt drive straight, and that course has water lining both sides almost the entire back 9. Managed an 85 while my playing partner shot a 74...with a really bad double on a reachable par 5. He really shouldve been E for the day.
