Buying furniture online

We've got a newly refinished basement and we're looking to furnish it ASAP. We've also got a few things for other rooms (desk and some sort of large chair for the office, various rugs, a credenza and/or bookcase for the living room, etc). Has anyone bought furniture from Wayfair, or their other brand sites (AllModern, Joss & Main, Birch Lane)? We've found a lot of stuff on their that is pretty decently priced, with decent reviews. I don't necessarily mind buying something like a rug or a desk, but I do worry buying something like a sectional sofa or large loungy chair online.

As far as sofas go, there are also places like JoyBird and Article. Anyone have experience there?

Never done it. What is the return policy? I go about 6'4" and what is a comfortable for a 5'4" woman writing a review on Wayfair might not work for me. I like to sit in furniture first. It's coming to the time of year where you can catch some outdoor Tent Sales at the Art Van type of places. I scored a matching faux-leather sofa/loveseat combo at one of them last spring for my basement for $500 total with delivery after some negotiation.

Just bought a TV stand on Wayfair. I'll let you know how that goes. If you count beds in the furniture category, we plan to purchase a Leesa mattress in the next couple of weeks. Anyone have experience with Leesa or Casper? I have heard good things, and you get a 100 day trial period.

I outfitted an entire trade show booth with stuff from Wayfair...stand alone shelves, tables, and chairs. Also bought a kitchen cart for my apartment.

Everything was very well-priced and good quality. I was actually surprised.

My friend also bought all of her living room furniture on that site, I'd say give it a shot. She got a crazy good deal on Black Friday.

Similar, I bought a mattress from Brooklyn Bedding (same type of Company as Casper). With the 100 day free trial and return it was a no brainer. I also researched a TON and latex mattresses seem much better than typical spring ones that cost way more in those mattress stores. We've had it for a few years now and I like it. If you don't already, get a King. There is no reason anyone married or as a couple should sleep in smaller (unless it doesn't fit).

We have a Tuft & Needle mattress. It's the best mattress I've ever slept on.

I want a king, but unfortunately until we move out of a the city it won't happen. I agree, I want to have to roll over twice before I make contact with my fiance.

I ended up pulling the trigger on the desk and one rug last night. I'm less worried about those types of items, it's hard to go wrong on a desk or rug as far as comfort goes.

You can return within 30 days, but the killer is you gotta pay for shipping it back.

I have bought a couple "bed in a box" and a few outdoor furniture pieces from Wayfair....never had an issue.

I bought a kegerator from Wayfair. It was nice and they even shipped a part that came damaged 1 day shipping for free. I think my friends got a rug and a couch from them as well and they were happy with it.

Wayfair seems pretty good. We bought a king platform bed there...and while the assembly was a pain in the ass, it's still a good deal. No complaints.

My entire house is outfitted with Value City Furniture. Bought most of it online, all the big stores have virtual viewing or measurements which make it easy to do at this point

I recently bought a hybrid, and it's the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on (and I've stayed at a lot of different hotels). While it's easy to overpay, generally if you buy a cheap mattress, then you get a bad mattress. I sampled one that was all memory foam, and it was good but not as good as the hybrid I bought.

I'd rather have the piece of mind, and convenience, of going to a local retailer with an exchange policy to make everything easier. A few hundred extra is really nothing over the 10 years you expect to have the mattress.

As for latex/foam, the two big issues (for cheaper ones, anyway) are gassing and sleeping hot.

What price range are the cheaper ones? Ours was $600, had a 100 day return policy, and have had no issues with gassing or sleeping hot. I can't remember how much we spent on the the regular mattress we bought (at a local retailer) before this one, but I think it was a bit more than $600. It was a nice mattress, I had no complaints about it, but having one shipped to my door with basically no risk was nice.

There are a ton of mattress companies now, and you can find a large review that favors each of them. Just pick one that's on sale and try it out. We got a king-sized Leesa on sale for $825 last year and it's been amazing. The box smell lasts for about 2-3 weeks so you probably have to wait that out, but then there are no problems. Our two dogs frequently hop into bed, and if they don't lay on me I can't even tell they are there.

Interesting. Ours would fall in that category, and we've had none of the issues you mentioned.

And a general FYI, Wayfair is having a big sale today. I knew it was coming today so I've waited on a few items we knew we wanted. Saved over $100 total on the three things I've bought so far.
