Based on what? Last I heard he was all "focused on being great" and shit. I haven't been keeping up though.

He's milking his 15 minutes of fame. There is a reason he was drafted in the late 7th, and it has nothing to do with him being *****. ESPN is going to make everyone hate him regardless of what he does. And I hate every single person that calls him "brave".

It's not surprising at all that he had a "DAFUQ?!?!" reaction to it. I am sure his son would have the same type of reaction if he walked in on vdubbs watching porn. In that same scenario im sure vdubbs would have changed the channel as well. You can be tolerant and support others' way of life and also wish not to see it. I don't see the problem with that. I don't really give a fuck if you are gay or straight, and I believe gay marriages should be recognized, however I will openly admit that it still makes me uncomfortable to watch two men go in full out make out sessions. Does it mean I am intolerant to their way of life? No, I just rather not watch it. It's the same shit when there are sexually explicit gay scenes in movies/shows (I.e. Wolf of Wall Street, true blood, californication, etc). I don't really feel like watching that stuff, so sorry I'm not sorry that I turn my head away when those type of scenes come on.

Say is he trolling all you want, but COA, your posts are a prime example of what sleeper is talking about. Gay activists have taken such an extreme approach that it is off putting for a lot of people and that includes people like me who support their cause. They take the "we believe in this and if you don't you are an intolerant piece of shit closed minded red neck!!!!!" approach. Instead of taking a peaceful approach to preach their cause, they verbally attack anybody that isn't on their side. I assume this is an attempt place fears on others to not provide their opposing stance.

I just find it very hypocritical that the same people who are preaching tolerance and open mindedness are the same people who attack others for not having the same views. Perhaps these people grew up a certain way and it will take a bit more time for them to come around... Attacking them sure won't help. Yes, there will be some old people who will never change their stance, but fortunately our society changes by each era and as a whole we become more tolerant. It happened with African Americans and women in this country, and it will happen for gays.

In summary, I agree with sleeper, some people need to just grow the fuck up.

Mike Sam is without question a national hero at this point, and one day his courage in the face of adversity will be recognized in the same light as George Washington and Helen Keller.

The media is making him a national hero and you might be right. Heck if he does make an NFL team I wouldn't be surprised if they retired his number 20 years down the road. Some people do really get to have cake and eat it too. Pun intended.

The best post on the thread....If the radicals had their way unless you are gay, you are homophobic. But they are radicals and aren't representative of the greater group or our citizenry. They just have Ivy league credentials because a degree in Angry Studies from Yale is now considered better than an electrical engineering degree from Purdue.

How has that worked out for us?

Not in my book. Real people build things and actually help this country. Ivy league philosophers are just like the ancient Greek philosophers and in the Sam case in more ways than one. Pun intended.

I don't think Sam has sex with adolescents.

I don't think anyone is going there, but there is a lot of attention and adoration brought to Sam, Collins and likely future athletes that ignores people that have struggled in their relationships. Jason Collins is a jerk. He had a girlfriend for many years (Moos?) and certainly cheated on her with other men. When he finally came clean in their relationship the American media treated him as a hero. He cheated on his long-term partner! She unquestionably had to get a doctor's exam to make sure she didn't have an STD. How is this progress?

Did Collins cheat on her? If so that's shitty. Coming out is hard and everything but that's not something that I think is easily excusable. It sucks and is awkward and will probably make a lot of people angry but if you've been in a straight relationship and you realize you're gay or want to start living as yourself you owe it to those people to be honest about it.

The progress is that increasingly kids are able to come out as teens rather than having to wait until college for fear of ending up homeless or being punished for something they can't control. Yours is a valid concern but I haven't seen anyone lauding Collins or anyone for cheating. Applauding someone for one thing doesn't mean approval of everything they do.

I would think absolutely so...you don't just turn gay in a moment, and not have sex with a dude whilst married to a woman. The same thing happened to my mother-in-law. Fortunately for her that was a time before HIV was an issue. It was still devastating for her. The media makes icons out of some people yet ignore the struggles of others. I don't think I'll ever get it.

I mean he very well may have, I don't know. But generally you know you're gay prior to having sex with a dude. As for the HIV thing, it's another one of those situations where I don't understand why the hell people don't use condoms. Gay or straight everytime I hear about someone accidentally knocking a girl up or getting an STD from a one night stand I'm like "why the fuck wouldn't you use protection?". Same thing with testing, if you're sexually active get tested for shit regularly, especially if you're gay. It's irresponsible not to.

Agreed, it isn't as if birth control is expensive or unavailable. I wonder if some people just have random sex in the heat of the moment - certainly never happened to me.

Yeah people are sometimes like "well we met at a party/club and things just went from there". Well usually people are trying to hook up at parties and clubs so take a damn condom you idiot.

Why the fuck does one need to come out? Do people who fuck dogs have to tell everyone of their sexuality? When are gays going to realize we don't care; WE DON'T FUCKING CARE.

I've had sex with a staggering amount of women and have yet to use a condom. Never gotten a girl pregnant and I don't have any STDs. STDs are for the gays.

Unless you sleep exclusively with virgins, you never know.
