Up till now I just thought nothing too much about this . I didn't care if the guy came out or not. After seeing that spectacle on TV I see he is just using this as a stage for his politics. Not many 7th rounders even make the team. He acted like he was some kind of high draft pick. The dude isn't even going to make the team and then you will hear all these people bitching discrimination. With the bullying thing and now this stuff ,I am really getting turned off on the soap opera that has become the NFL.

Poetic justice would have been Sams and Incognito would be on the same team and would have to share a room.

Couldn't care less but ESPN, with their typical overkill, supposedly showed it about 5000 times, which is a bit over the top. Not shocked coming from ESPN though.

I couldn't care less if you're gay, bisexual, black, white, Chinese, tall, fat, short, alien, etc...if you're a good athlete with a genuine desire to work hard, then welcome to the team. I'd rather have him than someone like Josh Gordon who can't stop fucking smoking pot. Hell I wish the Bengals would have signed him. He was obviously good enough to win some pretty prestigious awards while at Missouri. I know he had a bad combine, but IMO, there were some teams that definitely took a pass on him because they didn't want the attention.

I thinks its perfectly fine that Sams is who he is . I do think the media is over hyping him because he is open gay. How many times do I have to watch this guy kissing his boyfriend on TV? How many other 7th round draft picks have a house full of people with TV cameras on hand like they just were picked #1?

If you are bothered by a kiss you're probably an asshole.
Also ESPN is fucking ridiculous. They cut to "an openly gay sports bar" after Sam was picked. There aren't really "closeted gay bars" or at least everyone I've ever been in has been pretty damned obvious.
As for Sam, I wouldn't be surprised if the dude got cut since the Rams have crazy depth at that position. I also wouldn't be surprised if he gets picked up by someone else in that scenario. Regardless of underwhelming pre-draft performances the dude was still SEC DPOTY. Since he's not going to be very expensive he's probably worth giving a shot for some team that needs someone in that position.

You don't see other 7th rounders getting that attention. But other 7th rounders aren't the first openly gay guys in the NFL so it makes sense that he'd be a story that gets focused on. While it might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people it is definitely a big deal to a bunch of gay kids on football teams or really any other sports. That's why these things get so much attention. Because he made it and it didn't matter that he was gay, just that he could tackle the hell out of the QB. It's important for a lot of kids who aren't in positions where they feel comfortable or safe being themselves to see that it won't necessarily always be that way.steubbigred;1615265 wrote:I thinks its perfectly fine that Sams is who he is . I wasn't bothered by the kiss at all, but I thought espn showing him rubbing the cake in his BFs face and kissing was over the top.I Wear Pants;1615271 wrote:If you are bothered by a kiss you're probably an asshole.

Tim Tebow move over. Fair or unfair Sams is now toxic and teams will not want the distractions. He has no chance in the NFL. I just wonder if he had kept quiet about his status if he would have played in the NFL for however long. he wont play a down you can bank on it. You will see some pre season action and that's all. I predict he will make several TV appearances on shows like "Ellen", and "Live" with Kelly and Mike.I Wear Pants;1615271 wrote:If you are bothered by a kiss you're probably an asshole.
