Your fellow NFL piers will be tough, please deal with it on your own like all other players do as going to the media will make it worse.

Dear Media,

Enough already, I know that Mr Sam is Gay, I personally don't give a fuck what he prefers. Please stop taking this to a level that causes others to debate if Mr Sam is right or wrong, I personally, could care less and so should we all.

Dear NFL,

Please don't fine, penalize, or suspend players of his team or opposing teams for routine smack talk or rude comments that goes on every Sunday on the field. I don't want to see anything out of the norm from the NFL just because Mr Sam is gay, equal for all, correct Roger Goodell?

Homo or hetero, who cares, live your own life and all will be well, nothing special for either.
Right on ,but the debate will go on non the less.

Did you have an issue with anyone else in the draft that kissed their SO?

I didn't see any others...I also didn't see them being replayed over and over and over and over again. Nor were they continuously talked about. Nor did any of the others smash cake in the face of their significant other. Nor did any other 7th rounder have continuous coverage.

I've always known that you were the edge of dumb, but I never knew you were the by product of inbred. I'll try and keep this in mind from now when responding to your unbelievably insensitive and undoubtedly moronic posts.

Now kindly re-evaluate your stance. Thanks.

Also, if you can't take a step back and realize what this means, in terms of progress for this country (esp after reading some things in this thread), then I'm not sure you're willing to have an open dialogue. This is a big deal, bc of morons like CC runner +.

Why would I reevaluate anything? That didn't happen during the 2014 NFL Draft. That's what we were talking about.

I really don't think that was replayed over and over and over again by every media outlet possible either. So...try again.

Just pointing our the double standard in your arguement. Google nba kiss and you'll find 100s of links, gifs, videos of that. Don't want to acknowledge that? Fine. But you're just being stubborn.

There was NO double standard. Show me where they continuously showed any kissing from any draft picks other than Michael Sam. Show me where they continuously showed last round draft picks, their house, their significant other, cake being shoved in a face, and on every media outlet.

I don't need to Google anything. I've been on ESPN.com, watched ESPN, been on numerous news websites, and not a single one shows ANY pictures of ANY draft picks with their significant others OR any cake. I'm sure I could dig through the deepness of the internets, but that's not what the discussion is about. It is about the continuous overcoverage and overkill of Michael Sam and a 7th round draft pick. If people wanted to be treated the same and wanted equality, then every 7th round draft pick should get the same coverage.

I already told you numb nuts. How about looking up Russell Wilson being drafted? Or how about looking up another openly gay drafted player?

Oh wait, he's the first. Didn't realize you were such a Dumbass to realize that. Openly gay football player? You're right espn/ news shouldn't publish that. /sarcasm

#2 bought rookie jersey, you're right dumbfuck, not a big monumental deal.

Again, I don't NEED to look anything up. That's not what the discussion is about. It is about what is continuously blasted in everyone's face. So be it, it happened. Why must we continue to show videos of it? It doesn't happen with ANY other player. Heck, no media outlet continuously showed Kevin Durant hugging his mom after his MVP speech.

Do you not get that? It's about what is showed OVER AND OVER again by media outlets. It's not about what can be Googled and posted on the internet by any random person. I don't need to go to EVERY media outlet to see people kissing, regardless of who it is. So, why must we see Michael Sam and his boyfriend?

Good for him, Nike, St. Louis, and the NFL. That is something that is newsworthy.

Let's put your arguemrnt up against Jackie Robinson. Does it hold water? If Jackie Robinson were to do what he did then now, he'd undoubtedly get insane pub. Does that take away from his achievement in your eyes?

I won't play hypothetical games with you because your initial argument went way off course of being right -- which isn't what you intended.

Good for Michael Sam. He got drafted and has a chance to make an NFL team. There's thousands of other college football players that wish they could be in his football cleats. But, the person he is is being overshadowed by the football player he is. That's not what should happen for any person regardless of their sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origins, or any other non-athletic category. Why do we have to call him a "gay football player" instead of just a "football player?" Why must we continue to categorize people?

My team is comprised of student-athletes of Mexican, Ghanan, South Sudanese, Honduran, Dominican, Colombian, El Salvadoran, Portuguese, Filipino, potentially Ukrainian, Pakistani, Indian, and American (from various states). Guess what...they are all American student-athletes. No one categorizes them any other way. They are college athletes, that is all. They are known by the sport they play, not their background, sexual orientation, religious belief, or anything else.

But, to answer your hypothetical question, there are 1696 active spots on NFL rosters. We must continue to figure out who the 15-16 homosexual football players are...why? If the last figures were right, less than 1% of the American population may identify as homosexual. It is essential to figure out what athletic figures do in their own bedroom? Whereas, around 12% of the population is African American (or has the roots) and were a BANNED people group in professional sports...you want to equate them? I have yet to see where there has been any homosexuals forced out of professional sports. I don't care which athlete sleeps with who...that includes Michael Sam or Wilt Chamberlain. I want my team to win and I want my sports channels to be all about sports. If I want something else pertaining to an athlete's life, then I will seek the proper outlet to do such.

How many of your players are openly gay players in the SEC, playing in front of 100k every week with 60 million+ to watch on sundays? lol, thought so.

I agree with you, shouldn't be an issue, but morons like cc runner, prove why it is a big deal. First to happen, means it makes history. Don't be a stubborn bigot dipshit.

Right. If the media doesn't overplay this then we all move on quickly. It's all about the ratings. No 7th rounder in history got this much notice ,this guy should have been treated the exact same as any other potential 7th or later RD NFL prospect. Isn't that exactly what Sams himself has been bitching about from day one? It's a double standard on his part to allow the media in the house, when he isn't a top prospected draft pick. He isn't exactly shy for the cameras. If he wants treated the same ,then act the same. This is his platform and I think it's the wrong way to do this.

Comparing Sam to Robinson isn't just stupid, but borderline offensive.

Robinson faced real violent threats, couldn't stay in certain hotels with the team and was sabotaged by his own teammates (and likely coaches).

Sam's "struggle" is that some people don't agree with his lifestyle....step in line. Many people disagree with smokers, drinkers, people of certain religious groups, people of certain political groups etc.

There is a huge difference between being a victim of discrimination and looking like an attention whore.

It isn't, but don't stop making up facts to support your argument as opposed to using real ones.

You obviously missed my point. Personally I don't care who's kissing who, the fact of it being replayed over and over again is the problem.

I don't see the need to watch ESPN 24/7 or even 1/7 unless its a live college football or softball game. and especially don't see the need to watch the 7th round practice squad guys get drafted. Therefore I haven't seen the kiss in question.

Hope this helps.

sleeper has a bit, albeit a slight bit of a point. It is a very exceptional minority of gay people that behave inappropriately. And although it isn't representative of anyone and no one should stereotype, the ones that behave inappropriately can't be called out on it - HR will tell you they can't do anything about it. Yet if someone makes a borderline racist or "homophobic" statement or even an off-color joke it becomes national news. I've seen this in my family and in the workplace. The vast majority of gay friends/family/co-workers are simply hard-working people that want to live their lives, but for the superminority that cross the line you can't do much about it.

I don't really see the problem with this. His son is very young and so far has probably grown up seeing only a man and a woman kiss. It's not surprising at all that he had a "DAFUQ?!?!" reaction to it. I am sure his son would have the same type of reaction if he walked in on vdubbs watching porn. In that same scenario im sure vdubbs would have changed the channel as well. You can be tolerant and support others' way of life and also wish not to see it. I don't see the problem with that. I don't really give a fuck if you are gay or straight, and I believe gay marriages should be recognized, however I will openly admit that it still makes me uncomfortable to watch two men go in full out make out sessions. Does it mean I am intolerant to their way of life? No, I just rather not watch it. It's the same shit when there are sexually explicit gay scenes in movies/shows (I.e. Wolf of Wall Street, true blood, californication, etc). I don't really feel like watching that stuff, so sorry I'm not sorry that I turn my head away when those type of scenes come on.

Say is he trolling all you want, but COA, your posts are a prime example of what sleeper is talking about. Gay activists have taken such an extreme approach that it is off putting for a lot of people and that includes people like me who support their cause. They take the "we believe in this and if you don't you are an intolerant piece of shit closed minded red neck!!!!!" approach. Instead of taking a peaceful approach to preach their cause, they verbally attack anybody that isn't on their side. I assume this is an attempt place fears on others to not provide their opposing stance.

I just find it very hypocritical that the same people who are preaching tolerance and open mindedness are the same people who attack others for not having the same views. Perhaps these people grew up a certain way and it will take a bit more time for them to come around... Attacking them sure won't help. Yes, there will be some old people who will never change their stance, but fortunately our society changes by each era and as a whole we become more tolerant. It happened with African Americans and women in this country, and it will happen for gays.

In summary, I agree with sleeper, some people need to just grow the fuck up.
