Most games involving Louisville aren't. They had no chance against UK unless they play a hack and slap style. I was surprised that interior depth and foul trouble wasn't really a factor, and the UK back court players whipped on the Louisville trio of Rozier, Jones and Blackshear.
Harrell? Pedestrian. Ridiculous he's being considered NPOY. It's clear that Towns and Cauley-Stein are better bigs than he is. If Towns played on a team like Louisville he'd be putting up numbers like Okafor (maybe better) and would be getting all the love.

Couple things. Cal still sucks as a bench coach. He just has better talent. Pitino is twice the coach. Ugly game. And no, it wasn't just on UL making it that way. It was both teams. UK defense is legit. But UL missed many good looks and point blank shots near rim. UK still tends to beat themselves and if they do have a downfall, that will be it. That's part of my criticism of Cal, his teams don't always play smart basketball, poor shot selection, turnovers, etc. Could be their down fall IMO.
UK doesn't play a team currently ranked in the top 25 the rest of the season. If they don't go undefeated with this weak of a schedule, then no one will.

Pitino also condones players throwing punches and things like this...

That sleeper Final Four team Washington falls at home to Stony Brook.

Upsets happen, even at the hands to mediocre teams. I see no reason for me to lay out examples of this, but will if you would like me to.
Washington is just as equipped to do damage in the NCAA Tournament today as it was before losing to Stony Brook. I still really like that team. If you don't, fine.

I don't disagree with the upset part, point was it was a bit much to say a legit Final Four contender lol.

Agreed. Could they make it? Yes. But to say they are legit, you'd have to throw in a lot of other teams as well, watering down the claim. It would be a huge upset for them to make it.Azubuike24;1690645 wrote:I don't disagree with the upset part, point was it was a bit much to say a legit Final Four contender lol.

I worked in public relations for too long and am prone to hyperbole on occasion. In retrospect, "legit" was perhaps an overreaction. That said, I wouldn't consider Washington getting to the Final Four a "huge upset," at least not at the present moment. UDub is 11-1 with two wins over Top 15 teams and is led by one of best point guards in the country. Lots of talent in Seattle.
If the Huskies endure a prolonged swoon at some point, then I will be forced to reevaluate. But I like what I've seen to this point.

Wyoming currently leads UNLV 20-19. Christian Wood has all 19 UNLV points.
In fairness, he also has 7 of their 8 shot attempts. But I'm not sure I've ever seen a start like that.

closest I can recall is Noah Vonleh having, I think, all 13 of Indianas points vs pen state last year when they led 13-10 (or something along those lines). All 19 is crazy, and I assume it was more than midway through the 1st or there about. Vonleh was at least only like 5 minutes into the game lol.Mulva;1691149 wrote:Wyoming currently leads UNLV 20-19. We've discussed this game here many times before, but Tayshaun Prince's demonstration of the three-point shot against North Carolina in 2001 was pretty special to watch, even for a Duke fan. He scored the first 15 points for the Wildcats, all on triples, each coming after the last, five straight trips down the floor. The final shot came as Prince brought the ball up the court and decided fuck it, he'd just shoot it from the UK logo. He looked like he was just out for a stroll that day, doing whatever the hell he pleased. Still the greatest individual spurt I've ever seen in college basketball. Prince was a bad motherfucker.

That he did it in 2:16 with no clock interruption is the most impressive part of that performance. Matt Doherty still has that timeout. Sort of a Carolina coaching tradition.

Washington loses to California. I know Rec, I love giving you shit. However, the Huskies do have 2 decent OOC wins (Oklahoma and San Diego State) and they will need them as I can see this being a team that goes like 10-8 or 9-9 in the Pac 12. They compiled some really bad wins with 5 of them in the non-conference against teams below 200.
Definitely closer to the NIT than the Final Four.

In random news, Central Michigan is now the highest scoring team in the country after dropping 125 last night.
