Yeah I can't see someone really wanting to move to Jacksonville, has to be all money related. Hopefully if/when we match this contract he doesn't let it affect his play.

I don't think Mack is the type of guy who would get his money and coast, especially when he has a lot more that he wants to accomplish. If this past season didnt affect his play without a contract, then it surely won't after he gets one.

Having lived near Jacksonville for 6 months, the weather sucks there too. Swamp, humid as shit hell hole. Florida sucks ass in general.

Of course he is going to say he loved his visit. They probably treated him in a first class way, and it is all about pitting teams against one another. Even if shit went wrong down there he was gonna say how great it was.

So the offer on Mack is:
$45 for 5 years with $22 guaranteed and $18 for the first two years?

Has it been confirmed? Haven't seen this confirmed but saw this as the rumor. Easy for the Browns to match that. $22M is what transitioning him and then Franchise Tag in 2015 would cost. This gives them a chance to prove the organization is finally headed in the right way without spending any more than what the tags would have cost the team.

We don't know if there's an out after year 2 though, which would be a major red flag.

An out after year two means we pay him the same guaranteed money on this contract as we would in tagging him for the same length of time. At least the Jags offer locks him up long term if the direction of the new regime causes him to change his tune about wanting to play elsewhere. From any standpoint other than thinking Mack will purposely sulk/suck if he has to come back to the Browns, there is 0 risk to matching.

In other news, McShay's latest mock he has the Browns taking Bortles, Kelvin Benjamin and Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB from Nebraska. I'd be happy with those picks...

Yeah the Contract has an out after Year 2. But the overall numbers are not very bad at all. We've got the cap room, match it. If his play suffers the guaranteed money is almost all front loaded, so can dump him with minimal cap hit.

Apparently the 3rd year of his contract if he chooses to accept is $8M fully guaranteed. Don't care, still match it. Might seem ridiculous for a center but I've read that many expect the salary cap to continue to increase $12-15M yearly so this is the first season of a "new normal". May seem like a lot now but could be average in a few years.

A really good article by Grossi I think. Fuck it, let Mack go to that shit hole. Haden, Gordon, Cameron, Taylor and Sheard are more important than a center. Way to much money on a center.

No.

He's a pro bowl lineman. You sign pro bowl lineman.

His signing won't kill the salary cap of this team.

Agreed, I wouldn't pay much more for a center, but he's one of the top three in the league, so he deserves it.

LOL for agreeing with grossi. That's a first. Also typical browns approach. Let's actually finally draft and develop pro bowl talent and just let them walk. Did you ever consider the message it would send to the team if they allowed Mack to walk all because he is being a bitch boy that wants to leave Cleveland?

You're better than that shook. Grossi? Really?

He's one of the best centers in the game, and we are going into year 2ish of the Hoyer experiment. We need that stability if there is any chance that Hoyer or our rookie qb is going to be successful, we need that line with Mack.

Johnny Football scored higher on the Wonderlic than any other QB in this draft class it is being reported.

Kid is the total package, and Browns fans everywhere need to seriously consider a march on Berea if he is on the board at our pick and we pass on him.

Ryan Fitzpatrick got a perfect score on the wonderlic, he's lighting up the league isn't he.

Fitzpatrick won a Heisman in college?

Johhny Football has already showed he can play on the field. Now we are finding out he has the brain power to go with those physical tools that allowed him to be a stud in college.

I appreciate the effort to troll me, but at least come with a more legit comparison.

Actually, Fitzpatrick got a 48 out of 50, not a perfect score. Still phenomenal though.

The 3rd year is only 4 million guaranteed.

I thought that he would be a late first round pick a long time ago, but in no way is his arm accurate enough and have the correct NFL body to be the total package.

I don't think many NFL teams put that MUCH stock into the wonderlic. It's pretty much a measure of "he is a fucking dumbass or not?"
