Nice to see Clary finally breakthrough the US superstars to get some well-deserved recognition and gold of his own. I think he may have almost been in shock, but that was about the most monotone, unexcited post-gold interview I've seen.

I think Phelps takes the 200im

Lochte just finished another race and has yet to really prove himself this Olympics.

I think we will see a change after the next Olympics.
Olympics really should be for sports that don't get the limelight of a major world championship of their own every few years (golf, soccer, etc..). But if you're going to have such events, they should have something unique to the Olympics. Like in golf maybe they could have teams of two play best ball or something like that. Of course with pros that would probably end-up in a tie most of the time.

Good race by both....Phelps did great the entire race and Lochte had to be gassed much of the race....he was gaining but couldn't close enough.

I'd say she missed a shit-ton of recess this past year in training.

I have 3 girls pretty into the gymnastics and they just beat record after record when I test them each spring.

I feel bad for the Russian gymnasts....don't want them to win but the pressure is insane on their faces.

Good good stuff....

Virginia Beach girl Gabby Douglas takes the gold.

And I still feel bad for the Russian kid.

I don't think they ever showed it. But she had to get a 15.3+ to win. Which was pretty much unheard of.

Well, she ended-up .259 behind so I guess that means something like a 15.077.

Still, I thought it was sloppy of their coverage not to give the score. They showed the distraught Russian which had me wondering just how close she came.

pretty much goes along with how they covered the women's gymnastics program as a whole. im surprised nbc didn't sneak in doctored youtube clips of russian and chinese gymnasts getting stone cold stunnered somehow

I remember it being discussed, wasn't aware it became official though. It seems like 2012 was the perfect year for rugby 7s and golf being in London and all. Piss poor planning by the IOC.

I'm not positive when it became official, my guess is there wasn't enough time to get them into play. Which IMO is a crock of shit lol.

It is a crock of shit. I can't really speak for rugby 7s, but golf you could easily determine a group of qualifiers.
