NBC's primetime coverage started off with a tribute to the '96 US women's gymnastics team that won gold. I remember watching it back then and being totally amazed. Kerri Strug clinched it with the gutsiest vault ever, sad to see it ended her career.

The women's 100 meter dash will be great.

Good swimming stuff tonight!

That girl in the springboard diving is just not beatable.

Trampoline, while stupid, is very impressive.

USA women's basketball was losing 28-25 to China late in the first quarter. After 3 quarters it's 94-48 USA.....a 69-20 run.

Agree, the coverage of the women's basketball should have been minimal. Maybe 20 minutes at the most.

Now an hour of women's water polo.

Well the track events didn't start until 2:00 PM ET today. The only thing in the morning was the Women's marathon.

Is there anyone else out there who doesn't find the track and field as exciting?

I really enjoy the gymnastics and swimming much more, so I find the first week of prime time much more alluring than the second week.

My preference goes swimming > gymnastics (women's, not as big of a fan of men's) > track and field.

But I always try to watch the 100M, 400M, 800 and Mile. A lot of the field events I don't care for. And the longer distances I don't like as much, much like I hate the 800 and Mile in swimming.

It's an hour into the show and NBC has just shown diving? Fail.
I'm watching the NFL preseason game.

Kerri Walsh has that natural beauty I like. Does not need makeup, etc....

It's crazy how easy Bolt makes it look. The other dudes look like they are about to stroke out and he is just jogging basically.

If Bolt gets a start like that he'll go 9.64 and won't be touched.

I'll take Gatlin at silver and Yohan bronze.

Will guess

1. Bolt 9.70
2. Gatlin 9.79
3. Johan 9.82

4. Gay 9.85

It was crazy slow for the Olympics.

Sucks for the Canadian gymnast....god it's hard watching them struggle. Her first vault she landed on her knees/chest/face......got up was given a score or zero....coach had her stretch to recover and she ran up for her second attempt and came up lame/scared.

Dominican Republic girl tried a triple flip on the vault and smacked on her ass.

God those girls are tough as nails.

Maroney shit herself and lost.....silver medal for her.

Should've played it safe and just ran and did something easier....backflip caused her to miss table a bit and she didn't have her lift....should've just ran and jumped.

Next time the announcers should keep their mouth shut. Should have known she was going to get silver when they said "as sure as anything in this Olympics". And somebody get that jackass a thesaurus.

I wasn't sure if he was helping her stretch or simply feeling her up. It was hard to tell. If I were McKayla's father, I would be waiting for him in his hotel room with a mask and a nine millimeter.

The guy's got a fantastic job, though. No denying that. Wow.

46.54.....he looked so good in the prior round. Maybe he does run better in the outside lanes.

Good stuff though!

Would like for Costas to interview some Dads of these gymnasts to hear their thoughts.
