How many years in a row can you franchise a player?

I think 2 is the max. Glad to see we got it done, but we def need a reliable back up behind him. Maiavia is a bum.

I think this is the last year they can. The reason Dawson would get the tag is that he won't re-sign a long-term deal here. He wants to get closer to home (Texas). Hillis is the other option but a) he's not worth top 5 money and b) there's still a very good chance he re-signs by March 13th.

No shit. Maiava is serviceable and a solid special teamer but he can go hang out with David Veikune ;) for all I care.

you take that back. He is only serviceable for the team he is playing against. He was absolutely pathetic last yr against the steelers. Probably one of the worst performances by a LBer I have ever seen and I was here for Ben Taylor.

I wouldn't even want to franchise Hillis. There would just be more speculation from the media, and they would just stir shit up. No doubt about it.

Hillis didn't earn the franchise tag.

it hasn't been mentioned much but if the Browns do trade up to get RG3 we can always trade McCoy to get an extra pick or two. I think the most we could possibly get is about a 4th but it will still help ease the pain of moving up to 2.

I would think you gotta trade him if they draft rgIII. You don't wanna have a split locker room

lol we wouldn't get shit for McCoy. 6th at absolute best. Also I think we have to keep him, if we have RG3 I think we need a viable back up. McCoy isn't starting anywhere else regardless.

I'm very happy we resigned DQ. Other than Joe Thomas, who was the last draft pick we resigned? I'm being honest, I can't name him. Its very important to build a stable locker room, leadership, and an identity. I'm glad to keep these guys and think the leadership/continuity is invaluable. Props to DQ for proving me wrong, after his back to back injured years I wrote him off.

Charle Frye was traded for a 6th rounder
Brady Quinn was traded for a 6th rounder, Peyton Hillis
Sage Rosenfels was traded for a 4th rounder
Jason Cambell was traded for a 4th rounder

I could think of 4 quarterbacks that were traded with starting experience. Colt is better than Frye and probably the same level as Quinn. I don't think 4th or 5th rounder is too extreme.

im not buying all this bidding bull shit. there is noway it can cost us two 1st a second 3rd and a 5th. if it is fuck that, and im a huge RGIII. its not like we are moving up 15 spots. we are moving up 2. they should be happy with both 1st and maybe a 5th. other than that call the rams bluff.

I wouldn't even give up the 5th.

You can have our second 1st rounder and we'll swap #4 overall and #2 overall.

Don't like it? bye bye

Did you see his press conference? He was in tears at the end. Said he owes Holmgren everything in the world for continuing to believe in him.

This is dicey. I agree that he would be a viable backup and even a "lightning in a bottle/catch a team off guard" spot starter but you know how it is here. First time RG3 had a bad game the 'Colt, Colt, Colt" chants would start. Was like that with Dilfer/Frye, Frye/DA, DA/Quinn, Delhomme/Wallace/McCoy, and on and on...

Unfortunately I had to listen to WKNR on the drive home because 92.3 was talking about the Chardon shooting on the way home. No disrespect but I didn't want to hear them rehash that. The drive time guys made a valid comment regarding RG3 by saying "only in Cleveland does HALF of the city LOVE RG3 and HALF of them HATE him (McCoy supporters)." Almost everywhere else seems to be in love with the guy.

DQ definitely owes a dept of gratitude to Holmgren/Heckert. Glad he repaid them by sticking around.

Who the fuck hates Griffin?

Are you McCoy haters that obsessed with putting "they hate everyone besides McCoy" words in everyone who isn't a McCoy hater's mouths?

I've literally not seen one post on here from someone saying they think RG3 will 100% be a bust.

No one hates RG3, some hate the thought of giving up multiple picks (including very important first rounders) to get him.

Can you get that through your fucking skull please so you don't post it in every god damn post?

Can you calm your ass down? I was quoting what they said on the radio. I haven't seen any RG3 'haters" on here who have said he'd bust but they ARE out there (meaning NOT on OC). There are groups that think he's going to be "Andre Ware" and "Akili Smith" and he's "gonna bust." If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that ignorant shit. And when most of these people are asked who the franchise QB is their response is "Colt McCoy."

Who listens to radio callers?

90% of them are clinically retarded.

Because between him and Seneca, he IS the franchise QB.

Is the the franchise QB of the future? We don't know, but he's the franchise's QB at this moment in time.

I'm not just talking about radio callers. It's everywhere...Browns Facebook pages, Browns message boards, etc. McCoy has a very strong loyalty factor among fans. A lot of people would love an underdog to overcome the odds?

I agree that he's the current "franchise's" QB but him being a "franchise" QB is up for debate.

there is no debate about it. he is NOT a franchise qb. career back up.
