Except they would be worthless because no one could get them the ball.

Better QB class than this year in my opinion. I'd take all 5 of them before a guy like Tannehill, Osweiler, or Weeden this year.

But probably none of them will be as highly regarded as Luck/RGIII.
If we are ever going to make a move at QB it has to be this year.

Drafting a QB in the first round next year is equivalent to starting over, and we don't have that kind of time. It has to be this year or sign a free agent and go with experience.

Is the NFL going to be done forever in a few years or something?

If we are taking a QB next year it means we weren't good again next year.

That would mean heading into Holmgren's 5th year on the job we are still not a playoff team starting a rookie QB in 2013.

Guess what folks, that means he is going to be out of here and we are getting a new President that is going to clean house and we are starting all over again because they will want to bring in their team just like Holmgren did.

He has been pretty clear he is probably not going to be here past the end of his contract, so there is some urgency since we are heading into his 4th year this year. If there is not a significant leap forward this year, this thing is going to end badly if we are still looking for a QB.

If they draft RGIII and struggle this year with a rookie QB, people will be more understanding than if they keep McCoy...struggle, and then have to draft a QB.

Just like we wasted a year keeping Mangini around, it would be wasting another year knowing we still need a long term solution at the position. Fans will not be nearly as understanding this time.

This is going to be his 3rd year. He was hired at the end of the 2009 season. But if the Browns haven't made the playoffs after 5 seasons do you really think anyone is going to care whether he sticks around anyway?

2 of the 6 AFC playoff teams this year were led by rookie quarterbacks. It isn't starting over.

Andy Dalton and who else? TJ Yates didnt "lead" any team to the playoffs.

And neither were first round picks. and both had a stud recieving corp.

I was thinking of Tebow, not Yates. Forgot it was his 2nd year for a minute there.

Heard Heckert isn't at the combine. He needs to get his ass there and talk to other GMs for trade possibilities.

RGIII measured out at just over 6-2 at the combine. This is big for his draft stock as a lot of people thought he was closer to 6'

Sounded like he has some sort of illness that's preventing him from attending. They said he'd participate in interviews with players through Skype.

If the Browns were looking to get a corner in the 1st, I wouldn't mind taking a look at Janoris Jenkins if he's still there at 22. Off the field issues sure, but part of me thinks that his friendship/experience with Haden would alleviate those concerns.

Neither he or Holmgren were at the Senior Bowl either.

So you think negotiating over the phone = negotiating in person?

I don't.

Since most draft day deals are done over the phone, and that's when Heckert "pwnd" the Eagles, I'd say he does just fine negotiating over the phone.

I believe he's a military brat. So he SHOULD be well spoken. I'm on the fence about rgIII, I don't want to give up that 2nd first rounder because we have too many needs. But I realize that he has a ton of potential and would certainly make our offense interesting.
