And still had a massive hole at QB. There is no guarantee Weeden would have been there at 37. Then what would we have done? Spent another year with a QB that gave us no shot at winning? No thanks. What really pisses me off is that we could've had DeCastro.

Also, some of you guys act like the Browns have no WR's. It's obvious we need a #1 and Randle, Hill or even Jeffrey could mold into a #1, but Greg Little is a legit WR. He had a pretty good rookie year for missing a year of football and only being a WR for a couple of seasons.

wow...just shocked. We need an O- lineman or a WR and draft a QB controversy instead. SMFH.

Ok, but there is no guarantee that Weeden will be any good, at all.. So we could still have a massive hole on the oline and at QB.IggyPride00;1154620 wrote:And still had a massive hole at QB. There are always linemen available later in the draft. 3 of ESPN's 4 highest rated guards (Logan Mankins being the exception) were drafted in the 4th round or later.

I'm so iffy on all of the receivers remaining. I like Hill but he's so unpolished. Jeffery and Givens (both struggle creating separation and have work ethic concerns) are big question marks to me, and I don't really like Randle, Sanu, or Quick.
I guess my round 2 hopes would be Hill, Cordy Glenn, Osemele, Lavonte David, or Zach Brown.
I'm kind of intrigued by Janoris Jenkins too.

Don't forget that when Kurt Warner came in from stocking shelves that he was 27, almost 28... he went on to win the super bowl and multiple MVP's. Not saying Weeden will do this, but don't count him out until you see him play. Obviously they saw something in him that they think he can help them win.

There is no guarantee that Decastro was going to be can't miss. Besides, interior line is very seldom drafted in the first round, as good talent evaluators always find guards/centers/RT later on. LT is the spot most teams will use a 1st round pick on and that's about it.hoops23;1154623 wrote:Ok, but there is no guarantee that Weeden will be any good, at all.. Filling the guard/RT spot is much easier to do than QB, so I would rather take the QB at that spot everyday and twice on Sundays.

Janoris Jenkins would interest me in the 4th round at the earliest. The dude has major issues though...Mulva;1154627 wrote:I'm so iffy on all of the receivers remaining. Not sure why you're nit picking what I said about DeCastro... I said I was willing to give the Weeden pick a chance and that I wasn't as mad about it as I thought I'd be...IggyPride00;1154629 wrote:There is no guarantee that Decastro was going to be can't miss. But you pick the part where I said I was kind of pissed because DeCastro being available....

And I agree that linemen are easier to nab in the later rounds, especially RT/OG, but I'm just not sold on Weeden. Hopefully he proves the Browns right. No denying his arm, but his poise under pressure concerns me, especially since we play the Steelers and Ravens 4 times.

I do think that the odds of us taking Martin (Rd 2) or Adams (Rd 3) are great. Kind of surprised Martin last through the first, but then again I'm also not. Also, WR is pretty deep as even Jeffery could be a solid add later. I don't think we're as completely screwed as many of you think.hoops23;1154639 wrote:And I agree that linemen are easier to nab in the later rounds, especially RT/OG, but I'm just not sold on Weeden. I'd like to see him paired with Haden again. I remember those two being absolutely dominate at Florida. Not saying it'd continue in Cleveland but maybe having a familiar face would keep him in line?Dr. KnOiTaLL;1154631 wrote:Janoris Jenkins would interest me in the 4th round at the earliest. I'd probably stay away in the 2nd, but if he was still available in the 3rd I would jump all over him.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1154631 wrote:Janoris Jenkins would interest me in the 4th round at the earliest. The dude has major issues though...
But I'm also hoping the Browns have a shot at Cliff Harris if he's there in round 5/6. I'll take a gamble on talent once in awhile. The 2nd round is probably too early to make that gamble though.

I said before that Weeden will have a better career than RG3...I will stick with my prediction. That being said, I am sick to my stomach that we had a chance to get DeCastro and turned it down. Why not take him and move back up for Weeden???? The only team that is a threat to take him before 37 is KC if they trade up.

I didn't really have a point just trying to spin potentially picking a troubled CB into a positive. I was more worried about the being tasered by police his freshman year or the 4 kids already. Hoping some of our younger core guys could straighten him out.Pick6;1154648 wrote:He's been caught with weed a few times..big whoop.

Well, Heckert and Holmgren are all-in. If Weeden is anything less than a top 10 QB a couple years from now, while the Steelers have an all-pro that we passed on, the regime needs to be gone.

I don't think Weeden has to be a top 10 QB... He just has to be a good one.

Hell with the trash we've watched for years now just being a functional offense makes it a win. Feeling like we have a QB that gives us a chance on Sunday's puts us farther ahead than we have been in years.hoops23;1154667 wrote:I don't think Weeden has to be a top 10 QB... Kicking that can down the road for another year wasn't an option as this whole regime was getting fired if we were bad enough this season to be in a position to draft a QB next year.
At least now if things improve this year and it seems like we have something we aren't going to be doing regime change again wondering how in 3.5 seasons under Holmgren we still did nothing to address the most important position in professional sports. That is a fireable offense, not passing on a guard.
