This. People need to get a grip. A bad pick is grabbing a career 57% completion quarterback tenth overall (Gabbert)...who played in the same Conference as Weeden.bases_loaded;1154572 wrote:Fuck all you cry baby bitches
Go Browns...TRich and Bro Weeden
SUPER BOWL
I watched him play a lot and he only sucked once...the dayv after the plane crash...which cost him a shot at Bama in the title game.
To me, he looked much better than Roethlesberger did in college...with similar physical attributes.
So far...me likey the draft.
Need to spend more pix on offense...especially wide receivers. Maybe the speed dude from Georgia Tech will still be around.

so is RG3. i don't hear anybody bitching about himsleeper;1154573 wrote:Using that logic, there's a reason Weeden dropped to #22 and its not his age. Guy is a system QB. Might as well take Kellen Moore in round 7 if we wanted that.
EDIT: johnathon martin at 37. book it.

How can you "this" a Browns post that uses the phrase Super Bowl?Footwedge;1154581 wrote:This.

I think I would prefer Randle and then possibly Hill. IMO, Hill is a project receiver. Randle is more NFL ready.Footwedge;1154581 wrote: Need to spend more pix on offense...especially wide receivers. Maybe the speed dude from Georgia Tech will still be around.

i don't care about weeden's completion percentage with that "bubble gum" offense that osu ran. i care more about a 45% completion percentage against pressure. but im sure weeden will be able to sit back in the shotgun and fling it around the field pressure-free against the ravens and steelers?

Miami Ohio ran bubble gum too 5 years ago. Check out Weeden's stats against the big boys last year. The kid can play. He needs a wide receiver to help him though.dazedconfused;1154589 wrote:i don't care about weeden's completion percentage with that "bubble gum" offense that osu ran. i care more about a 45% completion percentage against pressure. but im sure weeden will be able to sit back in the shotgun and fling it around the field pressure-free against the ravens and steelers?

RG3 was not only drafted #2, but the Redskins mortgaged their entire future on the guy. Hardly the same. The value was there at #2.shook_17;1154583 wrote:so is RG3. i don't hear anybody bitching about him

Neither could Ben Rape or Peyton for that matter. Kosar used a wheelchair while in the pocket.ytownfootball;1154587 wrote:RGIII can make people miss, Weeden can't juke a refrigerator.

The thing about the weeden pick, as others have said, is that we could've had our RT at that pick with a chance to get weeden with their 2nd round pick or trade up. Our starting right tackle this year(at this moment) is a former Raven's practice squad member. If we were able to get Trich, Decastro, and then get Weeden, I would feel a lot better about the pick than him at 22.

And if Weeden bombs out...he can take Ubaldo's spot in the rotation next year.

I like weeden. I didn't like him at 22. But we have him now, so I hope he comes in and lights it up. Never know.
So excited to see Richardson though!!

I would have preferred RT at 22, and a trade back into the 2nd round and taken two WRs w/ their 2nd rounders.
No Weeden.
If Colt isn't good this year, we'll get our franchise QB next year WITH WEAPONS ALREADY IN PLACE.
Cannot believe the Browns fucked this up so badly.

The hopelessly optimistic silver lining I can think of is that there are always more guards than tackles in a draft. Quite a few tackles in college end up making pretty good guards, so if we don't f*ck up any more picks and address WR and defense and get a couple linemen a little later, it COULD work out.
Ugh, I hated that pick but we don't have any choice but to root for him to succeed.

If only Heckert had bit the bullet and overpaid for a receiver in free agency. We could take an OL at 37 and not have to deal with the fact that we still have no one to catch the ball.
It we had T-Rich/Weeden/Free agent receiver and a 2nd round OL rookie for next year we would be in a much better spot.
Now we are stuck with a gaping hole at WR and OL still and only 1 pick to fill it with what should be an impact player at 37.
Everyone who is down on Weeden now won't be by mid season when they see what a difference having a legit NFL talent at QB makes on leading an offense and scoring points.

Very excited about Trent.
I hate the Weeden pick, though I'll admit I'm not as pissed as I thought I'd be.
3 of the top WR's ar still available and we have the 5th pick in the 2nd round... If Weeden is what the Browns saw, then I'll be happy.
What really pisses me off is that we could've had DeCastro.

And what if we end up with the 8th pick or so? Then what do we do, trade 3 consecutive years of #1's to draft Barkley? That is not a plan.If Colt isn't good this year, we'll get our franchise QB next year

With no one to throw to. UGH why couldn't they have got a WR in FA!
