I was just getting on here to voice my displeasure in seeing the deal he signed. The only thing I can think that remotely makes sense is that they reached out and he wasn't interested.

As we go on with this regime and after reading/hearing Holmgren's comments this past week, I don't think that Heckert is the one making the personal decisions.

That's why Holmgren is called "The Czar"

The Winston signing I find particularly puzzling. Seemed like a perfect to me.

He's a free agent, so he's worthless.

Mario Manningham is now off the board as it is being reported he signed with the 49ers tonight.

Moss/Manningham/Crabtree/ and Vernon Davis is a hell of a lot of weapons for one QB. I wonder if Peyton Manning noticed?

I would love to know how Heckert plans to fill all our holes because we only have so many picks in the first few rounds (where most impact players are found) and just about all the free agents worth having are off the board.

From what I heard, no attempt to reach out to him. I'm getting the feeling more & more that they are comfortable with Lauvao/Pinkston @ the guards and they will use a 1st-3rd on a RT to groom.

I think Holmgren's "4 wins, even 6 wins is unacceptable" comment is setting the stage to oust Shurmur if he doesn't meet up to these expectations. Also think he knows this team is going to be REAL bad this year and will be in a very good position to get Barkley, hence "rolling with McCoy."

The Browns will host the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins, and travel to play the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Add in the division opponents and I could see possible wins against Indianapolis and maybe Buffalo or Kansas City, if lucky.

Soooo, the Browns will be lucky to not go winless this year? Got it.

Hmmm...didn't make the playoffs LAST year when the schedule was ridiculously easy compared to this years? Don't think so.

Im late to the FA party, but god damn.....another year, same old Browns. With money to spend..let one of your key players walk and be passive as fuck in pursuing play makers.

I've liked what they have done in the draft the past few years, but at this rate they will never field a competitive team. IMO they were only a few pieces away from being there, but only are creating more needs.

Charlie Campbell's new 2013 mock has the Browns getting the #1 overall pick.

Cleveland Browns: Matt Barkley, QB, USC
In the next update of my 2012 mock draft, I'll have the Browns selecting either LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne or Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon. The Browns organization is a mess right now

Might not have to trade up for it. Colts might be worse...

1. Hillis is not a "key player" he had a fluke year

2. Exactly which major playmaker's contract do you suggest we should have taken on? Because I don't see one worth it.

Winston is probably the only contract I would want the Browns to take on.

I agree. Possibly Grubbs, but if the Browns can bring Steinbach back at a reduced price I'm OK with that too.

They need to bring him back. It needs to get done.
