There seems to be a belief that they are already done in FA. I find this pretty hard to believe.

might as well suffer with what you've got and play for the next "big thing" at QB.
Since we seem to be out of the running for any significant upgrades thru FA, including the QB position, it almost seems like the organization is planning to tank another year and build thru the draft. There seems to be a belief that they are already done in FA. I find this pretty hard to believe.

Beginning to believe this myself. As currently constructed, I see a 2-14 or 3-13 record so they will likely be in play for one of the top QB's in 2013 IF they (Holmgren/Heckert) are still around with more regression.HitsRus;1119369 wrote:Since we seem to be out of the running for any significant upgrades thru FA, including the QB position, it almost seems like the organization is planning to tank another year and build thru the draft.

I am also ready for the draft to be here. I just want to know what direction they are going to go.

There is no way they can even think about that as I think they would all be run out of town.HitsRus;1119369 wrote:Since we seem to be out of the running for any significant upgrades thru FA, including the QB position, it almost seems like the organization is planning to tank another year and build thru the draft.
The regime is arrogant, but not even Holmgren would be able to pull off 5/4/4 & under win seasons in a row without there being howling to have him replaced.
How could you continue to let Shumur coach the team if he manages 4 wins and under in his 2 seasons. That is a fireable offense in a league where is very easy to turn it around quickly.
This is the make or break season for this regime. There are still alot of lemmings that are listening to whatever Holmgren shovels, but another season like last year and that won't be the case anymore.
Holmgren was a great coach, but let us not forget he was stripped of his GM duties in Seattle for a reason. He just might not be cut out for this job, as buying the groceries is a different skill set than cooking them.

I wish there was a better option that was WILLING to coach the Browns. Who better to guide us to the promised land than THE CHIN!

No one wants to come ot the browns. That's what you have to remember. We haven't won/been in the playoffs consistently in decades

I don't think Shurmur's the problem and Holmgren is going to look REAL foolish after setting the bar with "4 wins, even 6 wins is unacceptable." I understand he has to show optimism but I just don't see this roster conjuring up 4 wins as constructed.IggyPride00;1119384 wrote:There is no way they can even think about that as I think they would all be run out of town.

The Browns will host the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins, and travel to play the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Add in the division opponents and I could see possible wins against Indianapolis and maybe Buffalo or Kansas City, if lucky.

I would sayTigerfan00;1119374 wrote:Whos the top 3 QBs right now that will be in next years draft?
1. Barkley
2. Bray
3. Landry Jones
4. Tyler Wilson
5. Aaron Murray
All of them have the potential to be 1st round picks. I like Bray a lot. He was slowed by injury a little bit last year, but I think he's going to have a big season.

Not necessarily the case. Yes, the big names may not want to be here but there are players that could help this team whose agents (Levi Brown, Eric Winston) were confused that the Browns didn't call them. A lot of free agents have no issue playing here...some do.DeyDurkie5;1119395 wrote:No one wants to come ot the browns. That's what you have to remember. Aaron Murray from Georgia put up good numbers but hes a little on the small side at 6'1 210. Id say the top 2 are Barkley and Jones then a dropoff after that

Not sold on Landry Jones. IMO just another product of a pass-happy defense in a conference unable to stop the pass. Underwhelming.

Yup Barkley or bust in 2013. Murray will be the 2nd best IMO but there will be concerns about his height.
I am hoping we trade down more and more everyday.

I think most of us are, but Holmgren made it pretty clear that he would likely discourage Heckert from doing so.

I don't think we can honestly trust a word that comes out of these guys' mouths. They also said they wouldn't go too strong to move up to #2Dr. KnOiTaLL;1119456 wrote:I think most of us are, but Holmgren made it pretty clear that he would likely discourage Heckert from doing so.

I will be pissed (but not surprised) if Tampa gets more value for trading the #5 pick than the Browns get for trading the #4 pick.BR1986FB;1118770 wrote:Sirius NFL mock draft. Would anyone have a major issue with this? I'd expect a 1st in 2013...
1. INDY- Luck

Don't understand why no effort was made to get Winston to play right tackle.
He signed for 4 years and $22 million, incredibly reasonable considering some of the deals we have seen out there, especially considering he is one of hte best RT's in the game.
Instead he and Hillis are in KC now when they could have just as easily been in Cleveland. It's not like they gave away the farm to sign either, but it helped solidify their run game.
Winston is only 28 years old, so he should have been the ideal type of free agent for Heckert as he is in his prime and affordable at a position of need.
