I heard on local radio today (92.3 and KNR) that Randy is finally waking up and starting to put some pressure on Holmgren to start making something happen.

The report was that they have not had a paid attendance of over 68,000 people since 2009. They have avoided blackouts, but it sounds like they are finally starting to feel it at the ticket window, which is about all that will get Randy's attention.

I can't remember who, but one of the national reporters being interviewed said that Heckert will not pass on a player he has rated higher on his board just to draft for need.

No one knows what the board looks like, but the impression I got was that if Claiborne is the highest rated player on his board at 4 that is who the Browns will take even though they desperately need offensive help and the draft is the only way they can get it since they aren't participating in FA.

Interesting strategy. I might do that in fantasy football because I know that I could trade for my need, but the Browns haven't shown much desire to trade, so I'm guessing Heckert isn't a fantasy football guy.

Lerner has taken a more active role the last 12 months or so, and I'm sure he understands that 12-9 losses don't fill the stands. This team needs to start scoring some damn points. Period.

They will be fine next year.

When the owner starts putting the pressure on like that it tells me you start making things happen or else. Its pretty bad that the Browns who is Clevelands #1 team in popularity is feeling the hurt in ticket sales. At least with Dan Gilbert and the Cavs they will have a pretty good team in a couple years with the pieces they are putting together.

Hopefully they trade back to #6, pick up two extra early second rounders and get the sixth best player on the board.

I'll be surprised if this happens after a) the Rams pulled what they did in the RG3 deal and b) the fact that Holmgren essentially had a pissy fit on that season ticket holders call yesterday. Some of the national media have been ripping on him. I'll be very surprised if the Browns/Rams are trade partners during the rest of Holmgren's tenure unless this is all some elaborate ruse. Now the Dolphins at 8 might be another story. If they don't land Flynn, they may want to move up for Blackmon or Tannehill.

With the fact that they re-signed Greco & Cousins I'm wondering just how active they will be in filling these O-Line voids. I'm confident in Pinkston at LG but I just get this sneaky feeling that Heckert's ego is going to have him stick with Lauvao which I think is a mistake. I think they'll fill RT some way.

Lets get some more Brady Quinn which made me sick, I told the idiots not to draft him and completely waste a draft a pick.

Since 2005 SF has shown how to build a team they blew it when they took that gamble on Alex Smith now they can grab a QB in free agency and have the rest of the team ready to win a championship.

Take Morris Claiborne or drop down take Trent Richardson and some extra picks either way is a win and much less of a gamble. Claiborne is all pro material.

Did anyone else find it kind of rich yesterday that Holmgren was complaing (actually taking a beating in the national media as well for it) about St. Louis trading that pick to the Redskins because of a "relationship" they have when basically all hiring decisions in Berea are made on "relationships" and not who is most qualified for a job?

If it weren't for Fritz Shurmur having been a great D-Coordinator for Mike, there is zero chance Pat Shurmur is a head coach in the NFL right now as he was on no ones radar having been the O-coordinator of a Rams team that finished 28th and 26th in the NFL in total offense in his 2 years at the position. Holmgren hired him because of the relationship he had with his uncle, hoping maybe he had some of it in him.

Today was the first time I heard the audio from the press conference, and he just seemed kind of whiney about it as if that is not a part of everyday business in the NFL.

I honestly wouldn't mind richardson being drafted. He's going to be a stud, and we could use a durable, dynamic back.

Florio was ripping on him and SOBO over on the OBR kind of thought it ironic that Holmgren was crying "nepotism". Found it amusing myself. Said he came across as whiny and apparently did the same about the refs after the Seahawks Super Bowl loss.

you should read this.....Holmgren really doesn't have a right to bitch......also if you noticed in the tele conference, he never came out and said "we matched Washington" he said " he thought that what they were offering was comparable" just because he thought it was just as good doesnt mean it was...

I mean, we struck out on landing a serviceable QB, didn't land any receiver via FA, we play pretty decent D...so we might as well run the fuck outta the ball. What else id left besides D and receivers that we can't get the ball to?
